Decent digital camera around $200-$300

Just wondering if any of you can recommend a decent camera in the $200 - $300 price range - we have had several cheaper ones that are "crap" and don't want another Kodak?

Also any good ones on sale ATM??

Is the water-proof one with the dog in the ad around that price?
My SIL has one and it's awsome. I keep trying to convince DH that I need to get a new one but he won't liusten.

i have an olympus.
its great its waterproof, shock proof. takes great shot lots of functions was 280 from memory.

ETA we posted at the same time, thats the one i have i love it

Just looked it up and it is over $500....guess I will keep looking but thanks for the suggestion!
