I'm definitely no "guru" but we organise our folders like this

Photos - then the subject, ie, Mehkelti, Aricyn, Aricyn & Mehkelti, friends, Family, wedding etc- then we have folders for each year.. and then in each year we have the months for that year with the pics organised in each one. So even if I don't go through and pick out the out of focus ones, at least I can pick a month to go through and select the good ones from it (if like, I'm uploading to facebook)

So yeah - not exactly organised, but it works!

ETA - I just read that over once I posted, and I should clarify that I don't have years under the "wedding" folder - there's just one lot of pics under that.. LOL
