Hi All,

I'm worried about my DD (now 22 months). She was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when she was 11 months, was treated with a closed reduction and spica cast for 12 weeks, and has had 2 checkups since (with x-rays), which have both been fine - last check up showed her hip had continued to improve, was stable and completely symetrical.

A few weeks ago, she had a bit of trouble walking - like she had a 'dead leg' and preferred to crawl rather than walk. This was on/off over the course of the day, but by the evening seemed to snap out of it and has been fine since.

This morning, she seems to have the same problem again. Trouble walking, preferring to crawl - doesn't seem to be in pain, but is a bit 'needy'.

I'm worried that this might be her hip problem recurring, but it seems a bit sudden - I understood that her hip would not 'pop out', but rather it would be a gradual deterioration, if it were to go wrong again. She was fine yesterday, but not today.

Has anyone else had similar problems with their hippy kids? Or would anyone have an alternative theory? I guess it will be another visit to the specialist...

Thanks,
Bertie
