Question squint problems after bimedial recession surgery

I have a problem, I have a ten month old who was born with severe squint in both eyes.
he had surgery on Friday the 13th April!!! At the 13th hour!!!
Unfortunately his right eye has turned back in again and he now requires an eye patch on the left eye in the hope the right eye will take the slack.
Patches are hard and make him very upset, he has to have it on for half his waking hours.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Catherine,
It is never easy patching kids especially younger ones. Is Jensen in spectacles or just patching there is a few different solutions. Be pesisitent in trying to patch to correct the visual acuity in the right eye by patching the left. The chemist type are expensive and hurt when removing. My favourite type is for children that are wearing specs and contact over the spectacle lens, maybe a fav character print. It can be easily peeled off and re applied when need be.
    Good luck
If all fails the good old pirate patch works ok, if it is a materal based rather than the plastic once again they hurt.

Thanks for your input Bec. jensen is only patched, no glasses.
I use makeup remover pads with leukoplast tape and I apply it to the patch before sticking it on him.
Will keep persisting, but I think he will require more surgery.

    Hi cruemum,

I don't have any advice, but my DP had to have surgery to correct his squint as a baby and he now has no problems. It took a while and wasn't easy-street for his parents but it worked out. Sorry you're having to go through it.

Jensen is doing a bit better with the patch, but still takes it off within 45 minutes.
Esme looks like a cutie, I have apic of my 4 yr old boy with food like that too.

jensen has to have on going treatment for it. Currently he is having to have drops placed in his "good" eye to dilate it and blur the vision in the hopes that his "bad" eye will pick up the slack.
So far this hasnt worked as he is pulling his "good" eye in to compensate.
I think surgery will be an option again.
Hope Nixon's problem sorts it self out as it is hard to have people staring at your baby like they are freaks.
Good luck and keep me posted on what happens with him.

Thanks Shannon. Jensen seems to see alright but he does have trouble focusing on things up close.
Hope Jessalyn doesnt have to have the surgery.
I wont be so scared if he has to have surgery again, at least I know what to expect this time.
pre surgery, anaesthetic, recovery and post op.
    It is still scary.
    All the best.
