BG - good point, I haven't inspected the 'used' blueberries too closely ha ha! I'm still buying them for her anyway. Even though they are currently $6 for a 125g punnet, she just loves them so she's eating about a punnet every 2-3 days.

starangelk - you are so right! I did once try a savoury raffertys on pasta for DD and she was not keen - when I tasted the sachet I could see why. I have some frozen sweet potato puree from when we did a week of puree before I got the BLS book, so I might try that with some ricotta mixed in and see how she likes it! Pesto is a good idea too.

Any suggestions for non-tomato pasta sauce ideas??? I'm a bit stuck for ideas. Maybe ricotta??
ricotta is fine, with mushrooms, etc.

but as a direct replacement for tomato, try pumpkin - works beautifully and you can use it with capsicum, spinach, leek, whatever. If you need a bit more wetness, you can use some evaporated milk, or some coconut milk, or even just some water or chicken/veggie stock. And if you want to space out the sweetness a bit, put it with some potato

marta loves a cannelini bean pasta sauce (throw a can of the beans in a frypan with some garlic and rosemary and the juice from the can of beans and fry away until it has thickened a bit and then stir through your pasta with some parmesan on top yum yum yum!).

    nice new avvy, star!

ok all, need some advice ...

so I know the addage is "fod is fun until they're one" and DS isn't one yet ... but DS is getting pretty close, and he's still not eating much! today almost all his chicken and veggies and other food during the day ended up on the floor ...

is it too early to get too worried?

I don't want to go to purees and effective force feeding, but I also don't want him to be on 4+ bottles and a handful of food for too much longer ... I want him to do it in good time, but the longer it takes, the more I wonder ...

    ideas?

Peanutter, this is EXACTLY what my little one is like. She'll be 13 months next week and she still doesn't eat much.

Trust him, he'll know what he needs. I'm glad that I stuck with BLS, DD's eating and skills at the table are awesome and while she may not eat much, I trust that she's getting what she needs.

In fact here is a post I started a few weeks ago on this : https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...h-blah-160145/

It's hard though, I know exactly where you're coming from hun

Hey ladies - I always get so excited when I see this thread is active

DD is eating fairly well at this end but I've noticed that sometimes at night when she's tired she struggles a bit. What we now do is feed her yoghurt (one of her faves) and this sort of gets her into the thought process of eating again. I will also feed her foods she loves if she has had an ordinary eating day so things like lasagne white sauce which she absolutely adores. The other thing I think made a massive difference to her eating is us cutting back her milk bottles. She wasn't finishing all of them and when I was giving EBM that was getting super frustrating so we cut back to less bottles but with more milk in them. This surprisingly worked and I was happy as she was getting the same amount of milk. Then about a month ago we stopped giving her a feed straight after solids. I noticed she increased her solids within a week as she wasn't expecting to have milk straight after. Now we wait at least 30 minutes to give her milk. Just some suggestions................but every babe is different.

Also, my DD doesn't seem to be a big fan of green vegies. She will eat roast potato, sweet potato and pumpkin forever but broccoli, beans etc - not a fan. So now what I do is hide them in foods like curries, vegie muffins, bolognaise etc and she's none the wiser. Hee hee hee

Nutter - thanks for noticing my avi! *twirls*

I've been meaning to pop into this thread for ages. I'm starting BLS slowly & cautiously lol, fighting my own hesitations (does it show!??!). So far my bub is loving finger food, and will happily shove spoons of food in her mouth too (I just have to load the spoons for her). I'm keen to get ideas for food to take out & about with us? And just general ideas of what foods were great for little ones. TIA! I've also got a copy of Gill Rapley's book but haven't had time to read it all yet lol.

Hey Belfie - welcome The thing I love most about BLS is the ease...........it is seriously super simple for parents. Foods we take out and about are rice crackers, muffins, cheese and fruit, sandwich fingers.

At the same age my DD loved stir fry - the vegies and meat were the perfect size for her and she used to eat it all up. She also loved rice crackers with any topping including mustard or vegemite - LOL. I also started her on egg and she loved that too. Good luck and most importantly - enjoy!
