My son's name is Jake, you could also spell it Jayke for something different (I'm kicking myself I didn't think of that before he was born, I think it's a really cool way to spell it!)

I think Joel is a great solid name. What have you thought of for middle names?

Not at all. Out of your short list I like Joel the best.

Don't kick yourself, telling everyone "it's JAYKE with a Y, no not Jake, but it's pronounced the same" and correcting everyone who spells it wrong on papers would get old after about five minutes. Believe me, I have a common name with an uncommon spelling, so I know what that's like.

My DS1's name is Joel so I'm a bit biased when I say I love it LOL! I love it because although it's not an "out there" name, it's not that common ATM either so he won't be going to school with 6 other Joel's. It also sounds great when you have to yell it out LOL!!

My other fav J names are Jeremy and Josiah.

    Good luck!

I am also planning on J names if mine is a boy. My faves are:

    Jai
    Josh/Joshua
    Jordan

I like Joel too - not 'dated' or old at all. I know a few Joels that are children

My favourite is Jesse (like the aussie actor on House, Jesse Spencer, pronounced Jessie) and I wanted it on our boy's name list, but my husband didn't like it.

I also like the Spanish variety pronounced "h" like Javier and Jose or the ones pronounced like a "y" as in Joaquin or Juan.

Any J name is generally quite nice, but not Jaxon or Jayke.
