Can the first and middle name 'almost' rhyme?

So, we have come up with a first name for DS that we both like. But, it kinda rhymes with the middle name that we want....it's a family name, so it's not really negotiable. Both have the 'en' sound at the end (though one is 'en' and one 'in'). DH says it doesn't matter as you rarely hear both names together, but I'm not so sure...would you choose a first and middle name that almost rhyme?

My DS's names both end in "on" sound. His middle name was the only name that sounded ok with his first.

My names rhyme (both end in "ee" sound). It was never mocked until I was older - and then it was me laughing at my parents for it. Doesn't help that my maiden name also had an "ee" sorta sound to it. So yeah, once I hit my late Tweens I mocked my folks (and still do) but no one else says boo about it

I agree with your husband. If you like it and can cope with it, why not? My DS has only just learnt his middle name and he's 4.5! That's how little we use it. When I told him, he said, "That's not my name. My name is firstname lastname." LOL.

If you're not happy with it you could you put a name between the two rhyming ones to break it up. eg: Jayden Jack Hayden flows better than Jayden Hayden.

I don't think it matters I have a friend who took her hubby's names despite the fact it now makes her first name L.e.e and her last name is the 4th letter of the alphabet... Yep

Thanks everyone. I feel a lot better about our choice now.....I think we have our baby name picked out!!!

It's funny; there were heaps of names DH vetoed because of possible teasing/nicknames/reminders of other words, and I always told him that kids these days are exposed to so many more names, so many from different cultures, that teasing about names is pretty much a thing of the past. And then I go and worry about names that 'almost' rhyme but will rarely be heard together!
