Question Lilac for a girl ... WDYT ??

    Hi all,

Was reading the birth column in our local paper yesterday and came across a newborn baby girl named " LILAC "

I'm not sure if it sounds like a pretty name or of a harder sounding name ... for some reason i'm swinging towards more pretty (i think) !!

Can't say i would use it myself but was curious to know your thoughts on this name ... And has anyone ever come across ' first names ' the same as a colour ??

Cheers from a bit of an unusual name lover xox

Yeah, there used to be a nurse at my work called Lilac. She wasn't very popular.

I've met a Golden and a Silver (both girls) and a Midori (Japanese for green) I'm sure there's been more.

Personally I think the letter 'c' on the end makes it sound a bit hard. I much prefer Lila/Lilah.

As for colour names- there was that guy on Australian Idol named 'Teal' (my fave colour), and there are many Jade's out there!!

Well here I go..against the grain as usual

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!

It was on our Short list for girl names for Mateauz. I would have had a Vyolett and a Lillak (we just spelt it a bit different) so we thought Khryztel was better...doesnt matter cause we ended up with the franks

But yes I LOVE the name

I love it too. I think it's lovely, and I think the hard 'c' on the end actually makes it a really good name for an adult, a bit grown up sounding, but the 'i' sound softens it. I think it's cool.
