Middle name ideas?

We have a little girl arriving in a couple of days and we're still in discussions over names. Feels like it's been going on forever.
Anyway, we think we may have settled on Ava, but now I am after a middle name. DH likes Kate. I don't have a problem with it, but I have just been through so many combinations that i'm not sure what sounds nice anymore!

Do you think Kate works for a middle name with Ava?
Please feel free to list any other ideas because we are open to suggestions.

Ava Grace - DD2 was going to be this name until 3 months before she was born friends of ours had a DD and called her Ava...I was so disappointed.

Not a big fan of Ava Kate as a combination ...

Maybe a longer version would work well though? Like Ava Caitlin, or Ava Katherine or Ava Kathleen or something ...? Just to make the name lengths a little more balanced, and to soften the Kate a bit?

I completely get what you're saying, and that was my initial concern, that it sounds a bit harsh just as Kate. I like Katherine and suggested that to DH recently but he's always liked Kate. Will see what happens tomorrow when we see her little face. She could be another name altogether!
