Saxon - is it a Teasing Tempter? And ramblings of other names on our list.....

    Hey there gals,

We have a little boy named Noah and we are thinking of naming our second son Saxon. I just have two little negatives niggling at me. Do you think Saxon would promote teasing? I wouldnt forgive myself if the little fella was teased because of something I chose for him! And I am not a fan of the name Jackson/Jaxon (no offence to anyone) so how can I be so in love with Saxon??

I keep getting little signs that Saxon is the name I am meant to use ie: I was on a plane the other day and two little brothers were seated behind me. I could hear them chatting to each other the whole way and it was cute the way the younger one called his big bro 'Sax'. At the end of the flight I asked Saxon if he liked his name and was he teased because of it. He said he had been teased a few times but he really loved his name and through it was a strong, manly name - he was only about 7!

Campbell is another long term favourite, but we have a good friend named Campbell and it would be weird to name our baby Campbell. But I still love that name!!

The other first name DH likes is Xavier. I like it alot, but dont love it.

Other options being considered probably as middle names:

    Brad (DH's name)
    Callum
    Elijah
    Finn(egan)
    Flynn
    Hamish
    Hugo
    Jude
    Macaulay
    Marley
    Nash
    Nate
    Roman
    Sunny
    Tate
    Clancy

    Thanks ladies

We have two Saxon's in our town and as far as I know neither get teased about their names.
I LOVE some of the other names on your list too! I adore Sunny but we have a pony called that so can't use it for our son too! Haha!

Oddly enough, I quite like Saxon as a name. I don't usually like even slightly unusual names for boys. But it does sound good.

Middle names - I'd probably go with a more conventional name JIC he wanted to be known as that name for a while. Definately not Saxon Roman - just think about it!

I authomatically thought of the guy on Big Brother (?)or some other show but not in a negative light. I don't mind Saxon as a name (but I don't think I would name my child that - I doubt DH would agree to anyway) & apart from kids making up a name (like 'sexon' for example), I can't think of anything that rhymes horribly with the name Saxon. I agree, it is a strong name.

I knew a Campbell, nice guy & a good name.

    From your list I like:

    Xavier
    Callum (was on our list)
    Elijah
    Jude
    Nate

I like Archer but DH won't have a bar of it.

I also like Luke/Lucas (but won't have it now b/c a gf has a Lucas)

GL with the name game, its a tough decision

I have a Saxon in our family. I was mortified by the name when I first heard it. I loved it the minute I met my nephew and have LOVED it ever since. He is early 20s and never been teased about his name. I say go for it!

I agree with the little Saxon from the plane - it is a strong manly name! I don't think its a teaser tempter - there are far worse names out there for that! My friend's brother is named Saxon and he is such a character - he's so funny, and has this crazy beard which reminds me of a lumberjack (or Seth Rogen!) and is always the life of the party, so I associate it with jolliness and manliness. I've met a handful of Saxon's and I must say they seem to all be a bunch of merry men indeed! I think it does take a certain personality to pull off - a bit like Nigel - but if you're getting signs that its the right name then he'll have the essential spark!

I don't think many of the others are teaser tempters - possibly Hugo if he ended up a bit chubby, he could cop Huge-o, and Clancy reminds me of the Simpson's, but as middle names that nobody would ever really use for them I don't see any teasing issues.

Go with what you think is baby's name, you will know as soon as you see him if you have chosen the right name

I love Roman from your list, yes im biased lol, i think Roman is also a very strong masculine name and the second i saw DS i knew that was his name. I also kept getting signs while i was pregnant with him. Xavier was the other name we had on our list for Roman, we only had 2, well i had 3, dh had 2, my other choice was Oliver. So the only names on our list were Roman, Xavier and Oliver.

I also love Nate from your list

I quite like the name Saxon. I certainly don't think it would encourage teasing more than any other name. Kids have a way of finding something to tease each other about.

Saxon is a great name. I also like Finnegan and Flynn, know a couple of them from my kids school. They aren't over popular, but very cute.
