Sorry but not once did the OP ask for made up names. She stated that her friend had made up 2 of her childrens names. I think some of the examples that have been given are downright rude and disrespectful.

Chill out, man. N ote how this is part 2...
We already played this game to come up with a girl's name, the friend picked one that was completely a random string of letters so we know what we're doing, we're old hats at this.
This mad method worked once before and we were asked to do the same again, so we did. We are contributing and having fun at the same time. Win win for everyone.
If this is how someone finds a name, who are we to get in the way of the process which worked so brilliantly last time.

Even if this is part 2 (and yes i've seen the other thread) i think it refers more to someone actually asking "ïs this actually serious".
I don't think there is an issue with people having fun and making up names but i think if we suggest a name it should be for real not for the randomness of typing 20 random letters and then  at it.
How would you feel if you gave an honest name and someone came in and started laughing at joking at how silly it is?
Remember her friend isnt a member of BB and cant see the fun girls are having while tossing idea's around, which may actually result in a name !
TBH your right Lisa, there was another "joke" thread started about names, that members gave time out of their day to reply to, and I thought pffft when I bothered replying, only to find it was a joke, Thats probably why members may have asked "is this serious"
How can you call having fun "absolutly revolting", no one is being hurt, the pregnant lady isnt reading this, I think its "absolutly thoughtful" that everyone is putting in suggestions. Fun and serious ;)
Mine's a serious one -
I have a 30-odd year old friend whose names is 'Harsh'. I believe the traditional Indian spelling is Hersch.
I love it :)
When we met he had only been Australia for 1 year and his English was still coming together, but he told me he couldn't tell me his name because it was rude in English
How do you know she won't join so she can read it? and what about other people who are new and see this kind of behaviour? Do you think it's going to encourage them to post if they think they may be ridiculed for their choices?
Also, just because someone can't see that you are mocking them doesn't make it ok. Just like calling an overweight person a "fat slob" behind thier back isn't ok. (that's an example, I don't actually think like that about anyone)
That'd all I'm going to say, this wasn't the purpose of the thread and IMO it's been derailed enough already.
I'm sorry of I caused offence. Honestly. I wasn't mocking anyone or their choices, just laughing at crazy names. I'm sorry if that has upset anyone. Wasn't my intention.
.....
How about Indian city names?
Calcutta
Bombay
Dehli
DumDum
Hyderbad
Sinnar
There's a list on wiki and some of them look totally made up.
List of cities and towns in India - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
What about Tiger? There are lots of tigers in India.
or Chilli? They use chilli in Indian cooking.
And I haven't even opened my mouth yet.
Khrystyazn
Ajarmessty
I quite like the name Kendahl (sorry if I have spelt it wrong) I knew twins whos names were Kendal and Lacey they were gorgeous.
ANyways back to it.
A boy I dated when I was in high school, his name was Ragner ? (I reckon he ended up doing time personally)
I love unusual names but honestly how many actually keep them? sometimes I think parents need to remember that these are little human beings that will have to grow up correcting people with spelling and pronunciation and its very very annoying. (my name is fairly common and people STILL cannot say it or spell it correctly)
Tell your friend to buy a baby book. She can find good ones out there that have different races in it to find something more unusual. Swahili (sp?) names, Hebrew names, Celtic names would all be worth a look, just about any culture can be found in name books these days.
Just out of curitosity - has your friend ever explained why she wants something that looks impossible to pronounce? is it JUST to be different?
Why doesn't she call the kid India, that's Indian. She could spell it Indyiah.
Kikkoman is a kick arse name. It's a bit more Chinese than Indian though, wouldn't you agree?
Kikki for short? I kinda like that.
How about some sri lankan names...?
BANDARANAYIKE
GUNASEKERA
WIJESINGHE
KANNANGARA
SAMARASINGHE
GOONETILLEKE
ABEYASEKERA
OBEYSEKERA
EKANAYIKE
NANAYAKKARA
JAYAWARDENE
JAYASURIYA
KUMARAGE
WARNAKULASURIYA
PRAGÑARATHNA
GÑANARATHNA
Bengal - sorry but not once have I called anything "absolutely revolting"
(Sent from my phone, so I apologise if it makes no sense.)
I think she was referring to Heva and Zacky.
Ok cool. Thanks for clarifying N2L :)
(Sent from my phone, so I apologise if it makes no sense.)
I don't think she can claim Brynalee - I've heard other girls with that name or very similar! I am confused as to why you need to have a name that no one else has ever had (that's got to be niegh on impossible) - but each to their own I guess. She'd do well to just chuck a pile of letters in a hat and draw some out and see what she gets.
I so still think a child with a made up name will go through life being constantly frustrated by having pronounce and and spell it to everyone. I have a 'normal' name and people still can't spell it and it drives me crazy!
Some more from the book I'm reading ATM:
Tommen
Joffrey
Theon
Thoren
Rickon
Gared
Aegon
Aerys
Aeron
Renly
Stannis
Some of them are not too bad & I've never heard of anyone with these names. I quite like Tommen.
A friend just named their baby boy A T R E Y U. I googled it & it would appear it's prounced A-TRAY-U. I've never heard that one before either.
Oh I loved the never ending story. Yes it is a name from
That.

Heva and Zacky. and Lisa, thank you for your support.
To everyone that made fun of this thread I have just ignored your suggestions.
To everyone who gave real suggestions thank you.
My friend does just want to be different.
Dahyliana (dar-li-arn-a) is a pretty name I think, Air-a-lou is pretty too, sometimes I think I'd rather have a name like that for my child instead of Lily, Sophie, Ava, Lachlan and all those names that have been done a million times before, I'd rather my child be (in my case) Mary-Beth and be one of a very few than Mia and be one of five in her class.
BUT EACH TO THEIR OWN.
I really hope my friend doesn't ever join bellybelly as she will be shattered and disrespected and that is horrible.
Thanks again to those that actually helped, the reason I did part two was to try and get away from the rubbish that was being suggested in the first thread.
Oh well, I hope she gets a boys name soon as she feels she is having a boy, I will now try and get some of the real suggestions out of this thread by wading through the crap.
I just dug out my baby name book :D
a couple of Babylonian names - Shadrach and Shedrick
Basque names - Dunixi, Errando, Luken, Matai, Xarles
Benin names - Odion
Gypsy names - Bavol, Danior, Durriken, Nicabar
I can keep looking if you like??
 Hun, there are some decent real ones in here, and FWIW who cares WHY someone wants a certain kind of name, each to their own. We loved our girls names and while we thought were not I early popular they were/are but I don't mind.
While some think it's horrible giving kids a 'different' name we ALL get asked at some point so who cares, I don't always agree or like names but hey it's not my kid ;)

Yeah I found that when I googled. It's also the name of a band. I haven't heard of any people of any age with that name. I loved that movie when I was little but I haven't seen it in years & I can't remember much of it at all.
Duckyboos, I'm sorry you have experienced such a negative response to your thread. I hope your friend finds a name she loves. I totally agree, each to their own.
For what it's worth, my name is Lisa and it is pronounced Lees-uh, so fairly common. I am always asked how to spell my name and if it is read by someone I am often asked how it is pronounced as a lot of people think it is pronounced as Lee-zuh. Cat Stevens has a song called 'Sad Lisa' where the pronunciation is Lee-zuh.
My point is, even pretty common names cop the mispronunciation and misspelling stuff, not just the unique names so most people will go through life correcting the spelling and pronunciation of their names.
(Sent from my phone, so I apologise if it makes no sense.)
My Aunty is Fijian Indian so I'll list a few names of know from them:
Manjula (Pron. Munjula (Manju for short)
Amika
Rakesh
Sunny
Shivan (Pron. Sheevhan)
Pye
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head...
