I always think of that nerdy kid from that Recess show. I also think of wretched sorry, I wouldn't use it. How could/would it be shortened?

I used to LOVE Recess. I actually don't mind the name, tho.

It won't be soo popular that you'll have to have a DD put her last initial on all her work I actually like it. I can work out how to pronounce it from the spelling and I can spell it - big things for me as a teacher

I really like it. I am a fan of traditional yet not overly popular names which cannot be shortened, so for me, it's perfect

I like Greta better, but if you like it, why not? It's not common and ppl will be able to spell it. What does it mean?
It means pearl (which happens to be my birthstone )

What about Greer? I think that is s classic that goes through the ages from little lassie to graceful old lady.
I came across this today when looking at Scottish names. It makes me think of Germaine and doesn't go well with our surname anyway.

It's good to get the stamp of approval from a teacher. MIL is one too.

Made me think of Mean Girls (the movie) but that isn't a bad thing really, I quite like it actually.

I like it - one of my besties is Greta which you could shorten Gretchen to, she also gets Gret for short

    Thanks for the feedback.

I like the name. I can see it for a child or an old lady. Just not sure about inbetween. DH and I both decided against it initially, but I keep coming back to it.

As for shortening, we're not big on shortening names (DD1 is Amelia and we don't shorten that). But Greta is a possibility (thanks Nai).
