help me sell this girls name to DH

The name 'Elleka' has really grown on me and if we have a girl I want to use it. Problem is, DH HATES it. I'm not sure whether it is the sound or perhaps the look of it (spelling).

It'd probably be shortened to Ellie, which DH likes... What else?

And what alternative spelling could be used? I need to sell it to him

Oh & if you can think of a similar name throw in that too

I grew up near a village named Ellerker, so won't help, sorry!

It also sounds a bit like Elektra, as in comic books.

Ellisa sounds similar to Elleka, but the "S" sound is softer than the "K". And you could go with a "Ka" sounding middle name (Kathryn, Karen, Carla, Carol...) so call her Ellie-Ka as a nickname.

What about Alekka? Aleki is a male shortening of Russian Alekzandr, so the feminine version could be Alekka.

    Alexa? Or Elexa?
I like Alexa, it's quite close & could also still be shortened to Ali

I have a good friend Elke - pronounced ell-ka. She is all kinds of awesome - beautiful, talented, creative, intelligent.

Perhaps he'd prefer that spelling. I think it's a traditional German name.

I'm sorry, but I don't like it. It has that "leak" sound to it, and I think it lends itself very easily to teasing.

That said, if you love it, what about Angelica, with elica as a nn?
