What do you think of this name for 2nd child?

    Hi All,
This might not be the most appropriate place for this topic but I couldn't find anything better. Sorry in advance if I missed a "name discussion".
So, We have a 4 year old boy named Maximus who we call Max. In about 6 weeks another boy will join our family who we plan to call
Maddox. What do you think of this name? Aren't they very alike? Or still interesting and different enough?
Any Maddoxs' out there? What are your experiences if you have a boy named Maddox?

    Max - Maddox

    Thanks for your input!

They're similar enough to get confused but not enough to be heard as the same especially when using Max's full name. ITMS...

The only Maddox I've ever heard of is Brad and Angelina's son.

Honestly I wouldn't do it, too close for my liking but I'm a strong believer of if you like it go for it, screw what others think!

Personally I think they are too similar. Max/Maddox.
How often is he called Maximus?

I wouldn't if it was me. I like similar sounding names too (Sarah, Zara, Samara etc) but decided against using more than one of them.

I'm another one in the 'sounds too similar for me' camp. Sorry.

Would you shorten his name like you did for Max? I.e Mad, Maddy etc?

I'm personally not a fan, they do sound/look too similar..

Good luck trying to find that perfect name

    I like it.
Does it really matter if they sound similar?? I mean our girls have different names but I still manage to get them mixed up all the time.

We never discarded a name just because it sounded similar to a sibling, relative or friend. We chose their names because we liked them.

As your boys grow they will more than likely not live in each others pockets, where having similar names will be an issue. One boy may ask to use their middle name, or their nicknames.

Up to you in the end.

I'm of the opinion if you like it go with it but for me it is far too close for my liking.

    Hi All,
    thanks for all your input.
We are still indecisive, I guess we'll go to the hospital with a list of names and figure out what he looks like...)

While i love the name Maddox, i think its too much being paired with Maximus. Too much MA sounds.

But it doesnt really matter what we think, its what YOU think and if you love it then you should use it

I like Maddox so that's not my problem at all, but I think the names are too similar and I wouldn't use it.

I'd be left thinking "Really? With all the thousands of names you couldn't find ONE other one you liked that wasn't almost the same name?". But that'd be it and I'd get over it fast. It's totally your choice.
