well i found out about a week ago that DH's step sister named her son James the same as DS and it made me so mad DH warned me she didnt think about other ppl the funny thing is her DH picked the name but no she couldnt say my brother just named his baby that maybe not a good idea
ive never met her coz at our wedding she was on her honeymoon but still there pretty closely related and any family gathering they will be there
im just so mad grr
wat do u do in this situation?
funny thing is it gives me an excuse to call him jamie in front of MIL which i intend to do anyway but she has told me i shouldnt and i should let him decide wether he wants to use it or not and i should put his prefered name as james when i send him to school but the only reason i called him that was only for the birth certificate and when hes an adult incase jamie is too childish
coz i named him after my stepdads friend that passed and he was called jamie up until he died at 35 official name James im so sick of her but thats another thread all together
Maybe the name has a special significance to them too?
My step-brother and his wife named their son Joel which is my DS1s name! It is a bit confusing when my mum talks about "Joel" LOL, but we rarely ever see them so it doesn't bother me. His wife always liked the name and even ran it by my mum first which I thought was nice .
DD's middle name is May which is after my grandmother not realising that my uncle and his wife were planning on having May as their babies middles name as it is his wife's middle name. She was due 5 months after me. We had already named her and told everybody before she told me thats what they were planning, so in my books it was too late to change, they had their heart set on the same so now in our close family we have Josphine May (my nan) Sarah May (Uncle's Wife) Tiera May (my gorgoues DD) and Bonni May (my beautiful cousin). Although it's not her first name there are still a lot of them now!
I can understand you being angry, but as was previously said maybe it had some meaning for them too and if your little man has a nic name or something else he is mainly called then it may not have even crossed their mind.
Nah I wouldn't be angry... Shel's half-sister named her daughter Alysha (which is my name lol, just different spelling), which I think is an important name for her. Anyway, no real point in being angry about it, a name is a name, no offence but its not like its a unique or unusual name (both Shel and I have three 'james' names in our family, and Jazz was almost a Jaimie) so theres every chance they DIDN'T copy you KWIM? Hope thats not out of line...
My Dads sister and one of Mums sisters have bothed named their babies Lachlan. One is Lachlan and one is Lochlan, though.
I think if you're only gonig to be seeing her for family gatherings it will be ok, you don't seem to have alot to do with each other otherwise so it shouldn't cause to much confusion. Plus you get to call your little man Jamie, which I think it cute ><;;
If DF and I had a girl we were going to call her Dylan, and a good friend of ours has a son called Dylan - I ran it buy her first, though... and we had actually gotten the name of Desperate House Wives haha. But, blue bundle for us anyway!
Don't stress chick, there are worse things, even though it is annoying!
my ds is called murray and my stepdad is murray he was named after him it can get annoying but i call my murray muzza which my mum hates lol and stepdad murray that or my mum calls him putzi which is small child or little one in german so yeah we got round it that way
ths bub i like jeffery which is my adopted brothers name and he said it was ok but other ppl tell me its not nice to steal ppls names but i think its nice to be named after someone as long as you have a reason and didnt do it out of spite
