Living on the Gold Coast with my bubba due in Spring, I'm concerned about overheating under the layers of baby slings and pouches.
I like the looks of the hug-a-bub but it also looks like a lot of layers. I do prefer the idea of a chest sling as I tend to get an aching back when I carry anything on my back.
What would you recommend as the best sling for hot weather?
Great thing about babies and mummies - they regulate each other's body temps there are ways to wear the HAB where you can pull down a layer and tuck it just under the bum, and squish up the straps that go over your shoulders so that they are slimmer (albeit less comfy, and it's cotton anyway, so just a strappy singlet underneath will suffice on your part).
The Ergo is no problem, either. I've used both in very hot weather and didn't suffer any ill-effects and DS didn't get too hot. Unlike the more commercial carriers you can get, baby is against your skin, not separated by another fabric structure, so you get maximum benefit from the regulation of body temp
Babyrock do a mesh sling and are queensland based so maybe check them out...they have sorts of diff patterns and are supposed to be queensland weather friendly!
One of the mum's in my ABA Mother's Group has the ABA Mesh sling, its pretty basic but she said it does the job.
I used a Hugabub in Cairns last month and it was fine, I just wore a single layer under it and had Oliver in a short sleeve bodysuit. I don't know how you would go in the peak of Summer though.
