Sam is a baby who really likes and responds to routine (not imposed on him, but he seems to have set his own). From day one he's pretty much fed and slept at the same times each day and had playtime at the same times each day, with only slight variation. I'm a kind of "go with the flow" kinda gal, but he seems to prefer much more regularity and predictability in his day than I do.
Since I've been wearing him around these last couple of days, he's been sleeping in the Ergo most of the day and has become more wakeful at night (he sleeps in a basinette right beside me). I'm assuming this is because he's getting too much sleep during the day while in the Ergo. I love the fact that he is so settled in it, and it certainly makes it easier to get things done, but I don't want to disrupt his night sleeping. I guess the simple answer is not to wear him around so much, but I'd rather not resort to that (and it'd mean using the pram much more, as we're out and about a fair bit - so he has to be transported somehow!).
Does anyone have any ideas? I love wearing him around, and he's obviously feeling pretty happy in the carrier....
My son was the same... very good during the day (sleeping and playing in a good routine) and his night time sleep was always a bit off. I just found that for me he got better and when he woke, didn't give him too much attention and eventually by 2-3 months he was perfect! He's now 2 and sleep through almost every single night since then!
Thanks Liz - do you think it was wearing him around that caused the night wakefulness in your little boy though? Until now, Sam's been sleeping like a champion.... Perhaps it's just a coincidence, and he'll start sleeping well again in his own time?
