I was wondering how big a baby has to be before they can be carried in a sling? My daughter is currently just under 2.5kg and too small for the Baby Bjorn carrier bought for her (min requirements for that on are 3.5kg). So are there any slings available for tiny babies? If so, which brands are they?
Starfish.
I have the same problem with my front carrier. I have a quinny. Ashley is about 2.7kg now.
I have ordered a babyrock sling and am waiting for it to arrive to use until she is big enough to fit into the front carrier. I will let you know how we go.
Yep, we have a hugabub. DS was only 6lb born, and was in it within a couple of weeks. It straps the baby nice and close to you, and they're not supporting their own weight on their bottom (like the baby bjorn) which is really bad for their spine.
I have a pocket sling - the ones with rings on the shoulder. It can be used from very tiny (with baby lying in it) until quite big toddlers (can carry sitting in front, on hip or on your back). I love mine.
We also have the HAB. Oscar is around 3.3kg and in the HAB since 1 week when he was around 3.18kg. He loves being snuggled close and I love that I can be hands free with no fear of him falling (great head support)
Yep, HAB here too! Oskar was only a little one too... 2.6kg. He loved being in close like the way the HAB holds them in. The only downside I find (even now) is that it isn't "fast" to put on...does get faster as you get used to it, but I'm still not overly fast...lol. Still, I can wear him for hours and he doesn't get too heavy like in a baby bjorn style which I also have and NEVER use anymore cos it hurts my back and shoulders too much.
