Felix doesn't really like his HAB...suggestions?

    Hey all

There's probably suggestions about this already but haven't had the chance to read through old threads...sorry!

Felix is 4 weeks old...he's a very strong little baby (the child health nurse said he was the strongest she's ever seen!!!) and basically has been holding his head up (increasingly longer) since birth...

But...he doesn't seem to like the HAB...especially when I tuck his head in...but he's still not strong enough to sit with his head permanently out...

    Any suggestions?

Also any suggestions on the best times to try him in his HAB...unfortunately we tend to try him when he's a bit unsettled (which doesn't help, I guess!)...

Is it worthwhile putting him in the HAB after a feed...getting him to go to sleep and then putting him down in his bassinet?

    Any suggestions would be wonderful!

    Cheers!

Monnie, has it really been 4 weeks already? I'm wondering, does Felix like being cradled in your arms? Or does he have reflux? I ask because Jack was a strong baby able to hold his head up from birth too (actually Tom was too, but he liked being cradled!), and he hated being cradled. He never liked the sling until he was about 2 months and I sat him in it. I just didn't put him in it until I was happy that he could go in with his head out. With just one child it wasn't so bad as he liked the pram, but thank goodness Tom loved the sling from day 1, made life much easier. I hope he takes to it soon for you.

    Hi there
Zac took a while to take to the HAB. He too has a strong little neck etc.
I first tried to use it whilst he was unsettled. No luck.
I started to use it in very small doses shortly after his feeds. DH also used it too.
He slowly got used to it and now drops off to sleep every time we pop him in!
Might be worth evaluating what you and he are wearing, I know Zac gets hot very easily in it so we have to go a layer lighter, I suspect his temperature had a bearing on how well he settled initially, he was getting v hot.
Good luck it is worth perservering a little longer.

    Thanks so much guys...great suggestions!

We'll definitely persevere...but might be a little while yet...I fell down the stairs last night whilst holding Felix...thankfully he is absolutely fine...but I twisted my ankle...looking black, blue and swollen!!!

AHHHH!!! And today was the day I was 'allowed' to drive again too...looks like I'm house bound for a little longer!

Oh no Monnie, big hugs to you sweetie. I really hope your ankle is better soon, and thank goodness Felix is fine. At least it gives you a good excuse to get some rest! Take care.

Oh Monnie you poor thing, I can really sympathise! I hope a couple of days rest sees your ankle heal nice and quickly, so you can get out and about

I think the girl's suggestions are really good, I'd give them a go. I'm sure with some persistence Felix will one day love his HAB!
