Hi! I'm interested in this style of wrap, but I'm not really sure of much difference between these two. Apart from the price as the Moby seems to be cheaper...
Any opinions on them?

I've had the same thoughts about the Calmawrap, cos it's again the same thing..... So will be watching this with interest.
I had a kari-me and as far as i can tell they are pretty much identical so i'd go for the cheapest. Mine was 40GBP off eBay. THese days i'd make my own of course

I've got the exact same question, since the moby wraps are available for about half the price of the hug-a-bubs. There must be a reason for that, I'd think! Unless it's just for the added features of pockets, etc. in the HAB. But I don't think that a difference of $60 is justified just for a pocket!
I'd also be interested in making one (and I found some directions for it online - website called mamatoto) but what I'd need then, is the directions for how to wear it, and what positions work, and how to position bub, etc. Any suggestions?
There are suggestions on the HAB website that might help....
Mamatoto has videos on their site too, I made my own HAB for $20 and if I wanted to not sew and make 2 it would have cost me $40, saying that, I now have 3![]()
Just going to bump this & see if anyone else has opinions??
I can't pick a color that works for me with the HAB but have found the most gorgeous Moby that would suit me perfectly (provided Aaron won't use it which he says he won't). Then there is the price issue $125 for HAB & $97 for Moby.
Is there really that much difference?
I am interested in this too, as I love the look of these wraps... the price and trickiness to put on kind of puts Shel off the HAB.... except I still want it! lol.
I'd like to know the difference...
P.S. Sarah I found a Moby's for $55-$95 on the carryaway website..... have you seen them?
The one I want including postage works out to be $104 from Carryaway, but $97 when ordered direct from MobyIt's only $7 but every $7 counts LOL
Not necessarily Cricket, I found it to be $7 cheaper to get it shipped from the US manufacturer than to get it posted from somewhere here.....
Like Cricket said Alisia, the Moby D is a normal thing, they just get different patterns in that are limited edition. Mine is a limited edition one is like a Moby D in that it has the different coloured panel, but it's not fleece.
PS I got mine last week & it's so beautiful![]()
Oh postage lol...completely forgot.... yep I hear you, I'd be taking the cheapest one too, no matter how much cheaper. lol
Wow dosn't look like a great deal of difference!! Beginning to think I may have spent a little too much $$ on my HAB... Oh well I will wait and see when I get it![]()
Well, I can't say anything about the HAB, because I've never tried one, but I do love the Moby wrap. As far as I can tell, they are very similar to wear and put on, and have pretty much the same options for carrying positions. HAB has a pocket, Moby doesn't. I think HAB is slightly less stretchy than Moby, which makes it better for carrying heavier/older children, whereas the softer, stretchier Moby is more comfortable for infants. There is also the MobyD, which has either a fleece, cotton, or silk panel on the front, which is less stretchy, and therefore more supportive. (slightly more expensive.)
I think if you google moby vs. hug-a-bub, or something similar you will come up with some more thorough comparisons.
Also, I saw some new and used moby wraps on e-bay for around $35-40US, but I don't know what the shipping to Australia would be.
As I said, I love the moby wrap - Emily is very content in there, and it really isn't that difficult to put on/wear. One try and I had it figured out. I also nursed her in there for the first time yesterday, and that worked beautifully!
HTH.
The one I want is like the Moby D in that is has the different coloured panel, but it's the limited edition one for this year. I think I will google & see what I can come up with.
Found this interesting comparison, so now it's going to be even harder!
So you've done the analysis and decided on a solid-colored stretchy wrap, and now the only remaining task is to decide which one: the Hug-a-Bub® or the Moby Wrap. Read on to get our take on these two stretchies.
Cost: The most obvious difference between the Hug-a-Bub® and the Moby Wrap is the price, which leads to the most common question that we get: is the Hug-a-Bub® worth the extra money? The answer to this question will vary depending on your financial situation and intended use for the carrier, as well as a zillion other factors that we won't list. For some people the added cost of the Hug-a-Bub® is irrelevant, for others it is prohibitive, and for the rest of us who fall somewhere in between, it is just another factor to consider.
An example of the importance of intended use might be the "sling addict" who plans to add a stretchy wrap to an already good collection of baby carriers, vs. the mom or dad who plans to use one carrier, the stretchy wrap, for every baby-carrying situation. For the one-and-only carrier parents, it might make sense to pay less attention to money and more attention to finding the carrier that they will most love to use, considering that spread out over years of everyday use the money will seem less relevant while satisfaction with the product will take on more importance. For the addict with a large sling collection, on the other hand, the stretchy wrap would be used less often, and in more specifically chosen situations, so that the extra cost per use would be higher if the more expensive wrap were chosen; even if the pricier wrap were strongly preferred it might make more sense to save money and use the rest of the carrier collection to compensate for any perceived deficiencies of the less expensive wrap.
Design and Function: Both the Moby Wrap and the Hug-a-Bub® are 100% knit cotton. The Moby Wrap fabric is double knit while the Hug-a-Bub® is single knit. This makes the Moby Wrap thicker, heavier, and softer, while the Hug-a-Bub® is lighter weight.
The Moby Wrap fabric has a bit more stretch to it than the Hug-a-Bub® fabric, and its edges are serged, while those of the Hug-a-Bub® are hemmed. This makes the Moby Wrap "cushier" feeling, so super-comfortable in the short term, while the Hug-a-Bub® is more supportive so more comfortable in the long term.
The Moby Wrap is wider than the Hug-a-Bub®. This makes the Moby Wrap theoretically better for back-carrying (although we're not crazy about stretchy wraps for this purpose), and it makes the Hug-a-Bub® cooler and easier to deal with. The lengths of the two wraps are almost equal.
The Hug-a-Bub® has a pocket sewn onto the middle of the wrap which can be used for carrying small/soft objects or for self-storage. It also comes with an excellent instructional DVD, while the Moby Wrap comes with written/photo instructions.
Summary : For coolness, convenience, a more tailored look, and better support, we recommend the Hug-a-Bub®. For softness, coziness, a more "flowy" look, and great value, we recommend the Moby Wrap.
So the biggest question is, will you use it everyday, or as your only carrier? Thats what I am gathering from that...
I think I'll end up going the Moby D... but when do you have to get one by, if they are limited edition? I love the idea of the fleecey lining.
I think the Moby D is a permanent thing, just certain patterns will be limited edition.![]()
You can go to their website to find out more, I'm sure. Also, their website should tell you if there is a store anywhere in Australia that carries them. At least shipping would be cheaper then.
I ended up getting a HAB as I found it on sale at a store near us for $100. I like the plain colours too as it should go with any outfit and suits my H too.
We're planning on getting an ergo as well though so we only really want this for mostly the first 6 months.
