I've decided rather than go the route of a double pram, I'm sticking with the single and will sling bub #2 if DD wants to ride in the pram. I already have a bubzilla and a piccolo from DD, the bubzilla being great from birth and the piccolo once she was around 5 months. But I would say I only had DD in the sling for around 30mins at a time. So I was wondering whether a HAB will be worth getting for the newborn stage, before the piccolo takes over - I was thinknig that it going over both shoulders might make it comfier to wear for a longer period of time? ALso are they easy to tie and get the baby in?
Absolutely! I wish I"d had mine for DS and DD. They are so comfortable and easy to tie, I used ot tie mine before leaving the house so when I got wherever I could just slide Jake in. Great for longer periods, and super supportive, you'll be able to bend over etc and feel safe that bubs is close and secure.
Definitely! I have a Tyion sling which is similar to a HAB (just a bit cheaper) and I would be totally lost without it. Have had it since newborn and I love it.
Do yourself a favour! You wont regret it! This style of sling is awesome!
um YES!!! i have a close carrier, similair to the HAB and i adore it!!!! i can actually get things done around the house without stopping and starting to resettle a baby!!!
very easy to get in and out of and doesnt hurt ur back in the slightest, sometimes i even forget im wearing her!
HAB is awesome for comfort and support for a newborn, my neice happily slept in it on me for an hour and I felt fine. Takes a bit of practice to tie up but ok once you get the hang of it. My DS hates being in a carrier and wanted to get out of it all the time so it didn't work for us. Much more supportive than other carriers I have tried cos it ties around the hips too, which takes a lot of pressure off the back and shoulders.
Mine is great and settles my colicky 7 week old down in just a few mins after we've tried everything.
They're easy to tie up once you've done it a couple of times and it isn't hard to get bubs in at all. Super comfy, you can wear them for ages without back strain or sore shoulders. Great for colicy babies coz they can be upright. Good also coz you can bend down. And coz bubs is up higher rather than low, you can carry on with things like cooking, cleaning, etc (with my other slings I always bump the baby into cupboards and things when trying to cook). Also great for breastfeeding. Did I say they're great?
You can pick them up second hand about half price on ebay. Or if you're handy with the sewing machine, you could make one youself - it's basically just a long continuous piece of stretchy fabric which is wider in the middle and narrower at the ends. PM if you'd like measurements
Sammy you may wish to have a look at the sleepy wrap - its like the HAB but more affordable. Settles my DS instantly. Like the HAB its a bit fiddly to get on but once you are used to it you can do it very quickly. Very easy to just chuck in the wash too, unlike some of the more structured carriers. Comes in a great range of colours, too.
I haven't got a new sling yet! I ended up getting a double pram for walking, but I'm going to keep my single stroller for shopping so will still sling the baby at shopping centres. I'm undecided whether to stick with the bubzilla and the piccolo or get the HAB as well, but I've still got time! I do like having the options of the slings as well as a pram - I haven't been using the piccolo for a while, but DH decided to take DD shopping on Sat and rather than bother with a pram, he used the piccolo - I was surprised she still fit, and he said she was really happy in there!
