Babies are just that - babies - they sleep a lot an will sleep wherever they are from the bassinet to the car to a sling it does not matter. (I have never had a child come to me yet insisting that they must sleep in my ring-sling or the car seat!)
Baby wearing is great for:
* Settling an upset tummy and relieving wind that refused to surface when burping just from Mum's motion
* Maintaining a healthy body temperature, particularly on these colder days, which means more energy can be spent growing instead of 'heating'.
* Being near Mum's scent can allow baby to sleep longer periods from the simple feeling of security meaning they have more restorative sleep which allows them to be more avid learners about their world when awake.
Like PP, we had a stomach issue, not colic but rather that the valve at the top of DS1 & DS2's stomach didn't close properly. We had to prop up on end of the cot mattress and use 'baby chocs' to hold them in bed without slipping down just so they didn't spill their meals. By the time I got my first sling I was expecting number 3 who didn't have the same issues as his brothers but got plenty of great use out of the sling for the reasons above.![]()
