    Unsettled 4 week old

My DD wont sleep during the day unless we are holding her. I have tried various methods of getting her to settle but she either wakes up in five minutes of putting her down or is just so awake that we cannot put her down. I have tried looking for her tired signs to no avail. So I have thought about wearing her during the day so she can get some sleep and I can still do things.

I have been looking at the HAB. She is just over 5 kg now (well was when she was weighed on her 4 week MCHN visit last Tuesday)

What would people recommend that I will be able to get value for money, my DD to possibly get some sleep during the day (without reflecting on her night time sleeping) and something I can use for a long time.

I am getting confused with the types of slings/ carriers out there. I have a baby bjorn which we use to go shopping in and she goes to sleep there......

Oh and will she get too used to being worn by me that she wont sleep in her bassinette at night?

Hey there...I had a similar problem with Jack...then he hit 6 weeks and had no problem with sleeping in his cot during the day. An ECHN told me at about 12 weeks it was going to change and he'd be fine during the day...but thankfully it happened earlier. I can relate, it's a nightmare having to hold your baby to allow it to sleep during the day.

I developed a routine which I stick to. What I did was, as soon as he'd start to look remotely sleepy during a feed or any other time, I'd take him into his darkened, cool room, press play on the cd player (same music every time), wrap him up tightly, kiss him on the cheek and pop him in his cot. I wouldn't speak to him during this process. He'd protest a bit to start with...but it got to be less and less. He still carries on on the odd occasion, but because he's wrapped well, he seems to resettle well too if he wakes.

Hope it helps...and it WILL get better!

Your baby is only 4 weeks old, she is still wanting to be so close to her Mummy. I have heard that this time is like the 4th trimester..that's what other Mummy's have told me anyway.

Madeleine won't even let me leave the room without a bit of a whinge. When she's asleep though, it's not a problem but she'll only sleep in her bouncer through the day and co-sleeps with us at night (she still won't go in her cot and she's 9 weeks old)! We've tried EVERYTHING too!!

People have told me she'll grow out of it on her own. But who knows? I definately don't mind her co-sleeping with us though, we're sleeping from 9pm-6am every night now so that's great!

We have a Baby Bjorn and it's great. Have not tried HAB but I'm sure they're fantastic and hopefully you will get some more replies on how excellent they are. I have heard heaps about them.

As for your little one, just enjoy her and keep giving her lots of cuddles, she loves to be around you, she's been inside you for 9 months!

Best of luck, thinking of you hun xxxx
