1 month old won't settle, needs frequent nappy changes. What's going on?

Were you feeding her more frequently yesterday? At this age babies seem to wee/poo at every feed, so if you went from feeding her every 3 hours to every 2 or more, then I would expect you would get more wet/dirty nappies.

Good luck for today. Remember its NORMAL for babies to cry for an hour or so each day..that's why we call it the witching hour. For us it was just before bedtime at 9pm, but some women in my mothers group would have it at the strangest times (12am, or 4pm...depends on the bub).

Well the last two days have been absolutely fine. We even made it to our Parents Group meeting without DD getting upset afterwards, which is an improvement on the last time. So whatever it was that was the problem, it hasn't returned. Yet. This is a big relief - I'm not sure I'd cope with many afternoons like that one.

One thing I've noticed is that sometimes babies have a feral phase It's almost as if someone has snuck into the house and swapped babies as they aren't the little one they were yesterday. After a day or two they get swapped back and all is calm again ROFL.

Just keep plugging away and whatever caused bub to be upset will probalby pass. If it doesn't then maybe it's a sign that something else is up. If you can, get your hands on a book called The Wonder Weeks. I found it to be a real eye opener in understanding why this kind of thing happens and helping me have the patience to ride it out the other side

just read your thread now, it is so hard to know whats wrong with them when there so unsettled, but it definatley will get better, i hope it was just one bad day for you. i remember ds went through a similar thing with the nappy changes. i read somewhere that around that age they become very aware of their bodily functions and the sensations can be distressing for them. i think this is what was happening with ds it seemed everytime he did a wee or poo, passed wind or burped it would upset him. i think he didnt like the feeling of the nappy getting wet. iykwim? good thing is it passed fairly quickly, and i'm not even 100% sure thats what it was. you can drive yourself crazy wondering and trying to figure out whats wrong with them,but its just so hard to know.
i hope things are better for you, i just wanted you to know your not alone.
