    10 minute day sleeps!

My little boy is 11 months now...and has started in the last week to have 10 minutes day sleeps!!!

He wakes crying and will in no way go back to sleep again...even if I sit and cuddle him for 40 minutes!

I've tried making his morning sleep later and then earlier..and nothing seems to help!

I'm sure he's tired when he wakes up...he yawns and has ++ little tantrums throughout the day!

    Any ideas?

i'd be tempted to pop him in a sling for a while monnie and go for a walk outside in the fresh air. i do this with my ds when i'm having trouble getting him to sleep properly in the day and he usually drifts off for at least an hour or so.

I don't have any great suggestions Monnie........but I would be tempted to say that he'll grow out of it, it's probably just a phase! DS did that for awhile there, but it seems like a distant memory now LOL. A walk in the pram/sling always helped my sanity LOL whether or not it helped him to sleep .

Just a thought......is he perhaps overtired? I know DS sleeps reeeeeaaaally badly if he's past it by the time I put him down. It took me awhile to figure that out though

ETA Rainforest, I keep thinking I haven't seen you around, but it's just your name change testing me LOL! We should organise another meet up! Sorry to hijack Monnie

    Thanks guys!

Yep...I think getting out for a walk would be a fantastic idea...pretty much rained all day today!

BUT...we did have some success...I'm not feeling so well so pretty much stayed on the couch all day and Felix slept on my chest for 2.5 hours this afternoon!

So yeah Janie...I think he is really overtired! His night time sleeps deteriorated recently but are slowly getting back on track again (2 night feeds instead of 3 or 4!!!)...so I'm sure he must be tired...I certainly am!

Anyway...I'm also wondering whether he's trying to tell me that he just needs one sleep a day! What do you think? Maybe it's worthwhile pushing his morning sleep back a bit and seeing what happens...

Janie...so lovely to hear from you. Hope DS is doing wonderfully!

It's worth a try hun! I keep thinking that my DS must be ready, but he soooo isn't. If we're out in the morning and he misses his morning sleep, he only goes down for 50-60 minutes at lunch time and that's it for the day!!!!!! Definitely not enough sleep. But if he does his normal thing, he has about an hour and fifteen minutes in the morning and about the same in the afternoon, sometimes a little less. So yeah, it looks like he's not ready yet.

But maybe Felix is? You'll know pretty quickly if it's not working. I guess you can only try, and if it doesn't work, then just wait it out.

Lovely to see you around too! Hope you're all going well (Apart from the lack of sleep )

    Yep...all is going well...

Felix is a delight and I'm sure he will get the sleeping stuff sorted out some day! I'm trying not to get too caught up in it!

    Can't believe he's 1 in a few weeks!!!
