Ah! Just when I feel like I've got the hang of this baby thing my glorious DD challenges me again. She is three and a bit months (15 and a half weeks) and lately she has started:
-Screaming at the breast where once she fed beautifully.
-Waking up 20, 30, 60 minutes utterly hysterical after we have put her down for her big sleep at night where once she settled immediately and for 5-6 hours. She is not particularly hungry- if I put her on the boob she only takes a little but if I've had a wine and hubby gives her EBM she guzzles it.
-wakes every three hours at night to feed where she only ever woke up once or twice. Yet she doesn't seem as hungry during the day- feeding every 2.6 to three hours instead of every 2.
-her colic may have come back...maybe?
Is this a usual 3 or 4 month thing? I thought babies did these 360s closer to 6 months? She has had a few big milestones lately- she is already rolling frequently from back to front for example, trying to sit up / forward when lying propped on a pillow, has been laughing and 'talking' heaps.
Yup! Sad to say she's starting another wonder week lol! If you have a smartphone they have a WW app which tells you when they are and what's happening and what you can do to help
Sent from the land of "iSomethings" so forgive me for any spelking misstaks
WW as in Wonder Week Ap? Is that it's name? Poor little darling was inconsolable tonight- woke up half an hour after I put her down and was screaming the house down.
There is a massive Wonder Week around week 19 and it sounds like she's going through the motions. It's a tough one but you'll all pop out the other side soon
And yeah, if you have an iPhone, download the Wonder Week app. The book is worth every cent though and very detained if you want a good read as well.
Ok I've downloaded it and it's great! H is totally having intense mood swings right now because although her extreme fussiness has been driving me bananas on the other hand she's been happier and more lively than ever.
Also Interesting that it's based on baby's due date. H was five solid days overdue which is particularly interesting as I've felt she's been slightly ahead of the average with some of her skills and development.
The rolling over is crazy- about a month ago she did the back to tummy role for the first time and I was impressed as I had read most babies master tummy to back first. But then no more rolling until a few days ago and now she's rolling all the time. Last night she rolled over about 4 times as she was moving between sleep cycles. She gets stuck on her tummy though so I have to roll her back. She's also grasping things with both hands and held a toy without dropping it for a couple of hours. Maybe she forgot it was there! And she's been laughing a lot more- in the last week and a half to two weeks. And touching my face during feeds and getting distracted by such fascinating things as a white ceiling - lol!
It's incredible how quickly they learn and grow, isn't it
My last post was missing a word, I was saying the Wonder Weeks book is amazing if you want a more detailed look at what's going on. It certainly makes the tough times easier when you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel
For sure. My new mantra with anything baby is- it's only temporary. Knowing that they change so much and so regularly helps keep things in perspective.
