6mths and still needs to be wrapped

    Hi Ladies,

My DD is 6mths and she still needs to be wrapped with 2 wraps. If she doesnt, she rubs her eyes (due to ezcema) continuously and wont go to sleep.

The problem is, the weather is getting so hot and she is getting too big for the wraps and more wriggly.

She rolls and gets out of her wraps so easily now that it becomes exhausting just trying to rewrap her.

What can I do to stop her from itching her eyes?

    Thanks all!

    umm i have no help

just wanted to let you know my DD still is wrapped..

with warmer weather i tend to strip down and use a muslin warp, you can get very very thin blankets

    Can you try cotton mittens?

With the wraps, how about muslin ones? At least 1 sqm in size and wrap on the diamond instead of on the straight edge? This gives you more length and width to wrap with.

I got very thin muslin wraps 120cm x 120cm, she wriggles out of them the easiest! I think cause they are thinner and yeh i use the diamond wrapping approach already lol

Cotton mittens, no help, she pulls them off!!

    Aghghh, it just gets frustrating!

Thanks for the replies though ladies!!!!

    Doh..

Oh how about the bond wondersuits, you can turn the cuffs out so it covers up their hands? I do it on DS when it's really cold at night.

I wrapped right through summer last year - just used lightweight wraps & put the air-con on if necessary. DS was wrapped until he was 9 months old - he wouldn't sleep without it either. You may find the eye-rubbing is just because she is tired - not just because of the eczema. DS rubs his eyes too (so much so that it used to stop him going to sleep - he would just flap his arms and rub his eyes). Now that he is older he doesn't flap so much.

Re. the shape of your wrap - I actually found it better to wrap on the straight edge with a big wrap (mine was 150 by 150). Then I could wrap the two sides & tuck them under his bottom, then fold up the bottom of the wrap & do the same thing - tuck the sides in. You can buy muslin that is 148cm wide from spotlight.

Yeh DD rubs her eyes and she cant sleep too, hence why i wrap her.
She usually rubs them if she is hungry or sleepy but ezcema is also developing on her eyes so I thought that was a contribution as well.

I never thought spotlight sold muslin wraps, i know they sell material so thanks for the tip Ezz. She definately needs bigger wraps.

    Thanks ladies!!

Phoeanix we wrapped until well after that too. Just go to spotlight and buy 1 1/2-2m of mulsin. It's a little stronger than the premade wrap fabric and there's plenty to play with. I just hemmed mine down both raw edges and left the selvedges. I wrapped on the straight too.
Before I thought of doing that I was using cot sheets but it got too hot.

I just went to Spotlight and bought some 100% cotton thin t-shirt like material, and made nice big wraps for summer. The material is stretchy and I wrap nice and tight and there is no way he is escaping! I had a kind of warm micro-fibre stretchy one for winter but its getting too warm. Hope the t-shirt material works as well!

Our little man is over 9 months and he still likes to be wrapped too,if the nights are warm i just use a single bed cotton sheet folded, and thinking if you can`t use mittens, what about just using a little pair of socks instead, works the same.

This is a little of centre but with my first bub i got some light sleeping bags, cotton and tied up the arm holes or sewed them shut, just put them in as you would normally but without putting the arms in the holes, just inside the bag, if you get what i mean and it worked well for that problem. He could roll and get comfortable without his arms wailing everywere. Both mine were wrapped till 6-7 months. My nurse wolud tell me stories of 2 year olds wrapped in bed sheets, so do what you need to do get that all sort after sleep.

hi there phenioxml, im not sure what to do to stop your little dd to stop rubbing her eyes but i was at the chemist yesterday and the lady there was telling me about a ezcema relief prdoct by inner health, they do the probiotic range and apparently it is really good, maybe you could try something like tis to help relieve the ezcema and them maybe she wont rub them and will be able to sleep.
    Good luck with it all
