Question Anyone here been to TRESILLIAN for a stay?

Hi! Has anyone taken their bub to Tresillian for a stay? Anyone been to the one at Kingswood? What did you think of it? Did it work & is it worth it? Do they let the bubs cry?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I went to the O'Connell Family centre in Canterbury, Victoria, for a 5 day stay. It was great - very gentle. Sorry I don't know about Tresillian.

Yes I went there when Tehya was 6 months old. In answer to your questions, Yes they do leave babies to cry.

You can forget about co sleeping. If you are caught you have to leave.

I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it. Yes it works for some. No it didn't work for us. And 3 years on, Tehya is STILL a shocking sleeper.

I found it hard to stick to their routine with 3 other kids to work around. While I was in there is was ok, you don't have to worry about cooking or cleaning, and OMG you will be suprised at how much spare time you have. If you are ok at listening to babies cry you will be fine, but for me it does my head it. I think personally, for me the crying was worse than no sleep.

But please don't let what I'm saying influence you badly. It can and does work there.

I went to Tresillian in Willoughby. I went with DD1 9 years ago and it was the biggest blessing in the world. She was 8 months and up to that day she (and I ) had slept no more than 1.5 hours at a time EVER. AFter ONE night she slept through and has always loved sleep since. It is controlled crying but i found it to be awonderful supportive environment and I was allowed go in as often as I wanted. It took maybe an hour but it meant sleep.
Also went with DD2 but it ended up being more an escape for me. She didn't really sleep whilst we were there, but was fine afterwards at home. again she cried, but not hysterically.
I also had all thesleep I wanted as they do the controlled crying IF you wish. With number 1 I had 4 nights of sleep but with 2 I was up alot as DD was keeping everyone else awake!!
Even though it was CC I found it could be as gentle as I chose. xo

Hi. Yep I went to Tresillian with my DD at 15mths of age. We went to Willoughby NSW. We stayed for 4 nights and saw improvements within 48 hrs. Others had seen improvements within 24 hrs. Our DD's sleeping issues weren't completely resolved by the time we left but persevered with what we'd learnt at home and within 3 nights she was sleeping right through the night and putting herself to sleep without crying and us not having to be in there.

Their methods are not for all but I found them to be 110% supportive and they would never force you to do anything you didn't want to do but at the same time you were there to try their methods. Since then, we have never looked back and she has been a brilliant sleeper ever since. Never had to go in and pat, rock, sing, lie next to her to get her to sleep ever again (which we were doing for 2-3hrs at a time). Not that they are bad things to have to do, but we were all getting 3hrs of broken sleep a night for months on end and working at the same time. I was very quickly heading towards depression and was seeking any help available. Our DD's issues started with unavoidable medical intervention for hip problems. Her sleeping over time just got worse with all the different approaches we were trying to get her to sleep. Reflecting back, I personally think we had confused her with all the different approaches and by sticking strictly to the one approach (which Tresillian helped us with) she was able to get a routine going. That said, all children/babies are different.

Our life changed hugely with Tresillian and I'd definitely recommend to anyone that asked.

P.S. In our experience, as soon as DD was getting the sleep she needed, we saw a huge improvement in her learning. She was speaking more, more interactive, calmer and just doing new things on a daily basis.

I hope either way, you find the help you need.
