    Baby beds

Okay, this is probably a stupid question but where can you ask stupid questions if you don't ask in mum's forums???

So the actual question is: can you go straight from a cradle (like a large basinette/crib) to a regular bed or do you have to use a cot/toddler size bed? I'm assuming that rails would be used on a regular bed.

    Thanks!

Don't see why they can't go into a regular bed - like you said with rails though. I like the cot cos he stays there when I put him there lol.

I would definitely use a cot first. I know you can get rails for full sized beds, but they don't go all the way around and also are only about 40cms high so the bub is likely to climb straight over and bang their heads many many times.

I know my little man likes to climb the rails in his cot and I would be lost without them!

Godd luck, and there is no stupid questions, only people too ignorant to answer!

Also... toddler beds are much closer to the ground and the rails go all the way to the end, so when baby big enough, he/she can get in and out of it easily. A big bed might be a bit too high... unless you were just going to put the mattress on the floor, then that would be okay. LOL

Thanks ladies! I guess because he's still not rolling much I hadn't thought about the getting/falling out of bed part so much. He seems likely to be a climber too so I think the cot with high sides is a go-er. I knew there'd be a good reason to use a cot/toddler bed and that you ladies would be the ones to let me know why :-D
