    grobag size and tog.

    hello all,
I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that may give me some help..
I am in Melbourne my ltl man is 4 months and about 6.2kgs. Its the first time i am buying the grobags, so i was just wondering what i needed to get. I need to get something that is going to take him through the summer... do i just bypass the 0-6mth bag and get him straight into a 6-18 mth bag... and the tog for melboures weather 2.5, 1.0, or 0.5???
    would appreciate anyone with experience
Also has anyone use "the dream bag?

Hi there! I have been using the bags since my daughter was 8 weeks and they are great, shes also just over 4 months old! I would recommend that you get the 6-18 mth bag seeing as he is only a few months off 6 months. I also would probably get a 1.0 TOG. I am in Melbourne too and have been using a 2.5 over winter but am about to buy her some in a lower TOG as the weather gets warmer. Although its not recommended I use blankets and sheets over the bag as I just find that the recommendation on the bag for what they should wear for 16 degrees is far too little. You can always do the same unless you dont want to put sheets or blankets over the top. I remember when she was first in it her feet only seemed to come down halfway and I think you will find the same for the 6-18 month one - as long as its secure around his shoulders and head and he cant slip down, dont worry about the length! HtH and welcome to Belly Belly!!

I was going to suggest exactly what Tan did!!!!

I have used the grobag for both girsl. Marley is nearly 16 mths and still uses the 6-18mth bag, with room still at the bottom. I have a 2.5 tog for winter and a 1.0 tog for summer (got a great deal if I bought 2). Given we are in spring, I would get a 1.0 tog and if need be, add extra clothes on overnight if you think your DS is going to be cold and it will be the perfect weight for summer. I've never heard of the dream bag, sorry!

    Good luck.

I have used a grobag for Charlie since he was a month old and I agree, at 4 months I would go straight to a 6-18 month bag. I had a 2.5TOG and a 1TOG and between these he got through winter, spring and autumn, with varying the warmth of the clothes he wore underneath (I never used a blanket with him). I don't bother putting him in a sleeping bag in the height of summer at all.

I moved to a bigger bag when Charlie was 15 months old, so he got ten months' wear out of those two before getting a tad big for them. I've never heard of the dreambag either, so can't help you with that one.

Mel - you know what they say - great minds etc

Did you mean Dreampods?? They are made by Mamas and Papas and also have a TOG rating like Grobags do so the same would apply to them I would say!
