    My baby hates grass!

We put our dd down on the grass outside yesterday and she abosutely cracked it!!! She HATED it - I have never heard her scream like that for any reason! She doesn't mind sand, concrete, tiles or carpet but would not sit on the grass. Has anyone else had this happen with their kids and if so, what did you do about it?

No, it hasn't happened with any of mine, but my nephew wouldn't walk on grass. Do you think she could have been bitten by an ant or something and thats why she cried? I would try again and see what she does. If she cries again maybe you could try putting her on a blanket?

    Good luck!

Ha ha... have to laugh.. I take Sari down to the river and we sit on a rug. Usually we have seagulls hanging around that she wants to say hello to but as soon as she crawls to the end of the rug and her hand touches grass she pulls back. Probably too scratchy on their delicate skin.

Some babies are more tactile than others. I think you'll find it's something she'll probably grow out of... but there are an awful lot of adults out there who don't like the feel of certain things (for me it's pumicestone.... I have this wierd thing going where whenever I pick one up I can *feel* it on my teeth). Ok, now you think I'm bonkers

That was worth a good smile Christine...

Riv wasn't a fan of grass, in fact, every time we sit him down, it takes him awhile to warm up. He puts his hand down, and then quickly lifts it like 'ooohhh...I don't know what I think about that...'

But I'll crawl a bit away, and call for him, or put a fun toy close by to encourage him to crawl to it. River's very tactile, has to feel everything! I think a rug is a great idea, then she can get used to grass and move off the rug at her own pace.

I never actually put Pip on the grass! Only on a rug - he'd do a thing with touching it and looking at me, I'd pat it and so forth. Now he eats the grass, pulls the grass, rolls on the grass ...

Alexa went through a stage where she would NOT go near grass... if you lowered her towards the grass she would scream & cry & pull her feet up to her ears....

She did eventually get over it.... & now loves grass, dirt & anything messy LOL...

I think it was the unstable ground that she was not used too as opposed to hard flooring & carpet etc...

She will come right.. just dont force the issue...
