9 month old - starting to test???

is it normal for a 9 month old to start to test you? i say "no" to my DD and "ah ah ah" when i don't want her to touch something. she will watch me to see my reaction and then when i say "no" she will crack up and scream/cry. she is funny when i take something off her, she whinges and can scream ultra loud and flap her hands about! i try not to laugh but just want to know, is it all normal??

Sounds perfectly normal to me. At 10 months my DD started dropping flat on the ground and banging her head in protest if i said no! It's amazing how early they begin to assert themselves.

And don't they look much older than their months when they give you that look!?

Ah yes, I posted the same thing a couple of weeks ago, my DS (9 months also) has just started doing the whol tantrum bank head on ground thing, I just either laugh at him or if he doesn't stop (he normally does after a minute or two) find something to distract him!
I too thought it was way too early for this but apparently not!

Yup - totally normal! I remember DD was an absolute dream child for about two months (7-8 months), then it all turned nasty again, LOL!
She has been asserting her independence ever since
I see it as a positive thing, really. They are growing in awareness of their world, and while it's frustrating (because they're incapable of caring at this stage about how YOU might feel about something) and can be exhausting (they don't necessarily remember or understand WHY they are told 'no') it is fascinating to watch them develop. Enjoy this amazing time!

    Hi Queenbee

My DS isnt quite there yet BUT he is starting to test us at bedtime! The last few nights, he has been having his nighttime bottle and going to sleep as usual but lately, the minute he is laid in his cot he starts crying and wanting to play ...... I think it is going to be good times ahead for us!
