    Baby not Babbling?

After some reassurance here - or something!

My baby son is 9 months - he'll be 9.5 months on the 14th March and he doesn't babble
He smiles and laughs and crawls and wants to climb on things and he'll make noises, but nothing that resembles a vowel, or constonant - like dadada, mamama or badeebadeebadee. Sometimes there may be one 'duh' but thats it in terms of a constonant type sound. So I'm getting worried.
My mum in law says don't panic - be patient and the CHN says as long as he isn't making monotonal slurs then not to do anything until 12 months.
I'm telling myself that he has been putting his efforts into his motor skill development, but I can't help but worry.
I've done things to test whether his hearing may not be good but he responds when I call him or when I clap or click my fingers behind his back. He looks me in the eyes when I pick him up or talk to him and he looks at others as well.
So.....I guess I am after reassurance so I can stop stressing!

Oh this was the post I wrote about 3 weeks ago, will see if I can find it! The overwhelming reply was that they all develop at different times and he will talk when he is ready hun! Sounds like he is a mover too like Izzy - never stops crawling and exploring everything. I say her name when her back is to me and she turns around so I knew it wasn't her hearing I think she just wasnt ready. Since about 1-2 weeks ago she just all of a sudden started saying bababbaaba and alalalalalala ! We had been stressing out so much but there she went all by herself.

Try not to worry - he will talk in his own time!!! (Easy to say I know :hugs: )

ETA - HERE is my thread hun!

    Well thats reassuring - cheers

Your Izzy was born 2 weeks before Blake...so I reckon in another couple of weeks he may start. Incidentally, he also dances! We just have to say 'Rocking and a Rollin' to him and he does a repeated rock from side to side. He loves music (much to his dad's delight).

    Thanks for that!

Ella was a big talker up until she started crawling. Everything stopped. Like you said she was focusing on one thing at a time.

Now she crawls and talks. (but she's not walking - that's another thing for me to stress about)

    Hooray!!!

At 10 months and 1 week, Blake is starting to babble with 'ba ba ba', 'fa fa fa' and 'duh duh duh'. Very sweet and a big relief!!
