    does anyones baby do this?

Hi. Ds is 11mnths old, and meeting all milestones. anyhow just wondering if this is normal..
he can be fascinated looking at the roof of my car when i am driving.
He will be crawling & be on all 4's,and then over and over again, wil live his arms up and then flop them down again, like repeatively.
Stares at lights like for ages.
Doesnt sit stil for more then 5minutes..

These days he is sleeping like heaps and heaps, about 16hrs a day.. some time i just wonder is this normal behaviour, and not some behaviour problems which loome beyond..

i certainly know about the "doesnt sit still for more than 5 mins". my 15mth old DS is a livewire, he has to be moving all the time, and hence hates being strapped into his high chair or the pram. he wont sit still on my lap while out at a cafe or something, he has to be down on the ground and running riot. he has always been like this, hence why he didnt sleep much at all at the start (or for the first 7 months!).

i think the behaviour you are seeing is normal - sounds like he might have a great imagination (maybe he's making up stories about the lights that flash across the car roof!), or maybe he's curious (wondering how the light works!). and the sleep sounds normal too, i think at that age anything from 13-16 hrs is about right.

Hi Maggie, I'm no expert, particularly as my first child is only 8 months old, but it sounds like lovely normal baby behaviour to me I received a 'sleep chart' info sheet from the MCHNs and they reckon 10-12m-o's sleep round about 14-16hours/day on average. (Course every baby is different )
In regard to the lights - my DD LOVES them. Coloured lights or plain lights, whatever. She loves reflections - plays with the light reflected in her bathwater (its so cute!). She often flaps her arms about as though she has just discovered how to use them (WT? ). She's not mobile yet, so can't comment on the sitting still thing, except that she needs constant stimulation (toys to play with, people to talk to etc) in order to stay entertained.
HTH a little, even though I'm not qualified to make judgements

Maybe he's just tiring himself out from all the crawling and thats why he's sleeping so much! Kids to seem to love lights!! I think most kids have too much to explore to bother sitting still for too long!

Ummm seems fine to me - Just pop in to your mchn if your worried though just to put your mind at ease!!
