    Smile Breakfast suggestions

    Hi all,

Just wondering if you have any ideas what to feed a 19 month old for breakfast?

She has NEVER been into weatbix, or rice cereals, so i've been giving her a yoghurt and piece of fruit for breaky for ever. However i'm thinking its getting too cold to have yoghurt in the morning... what do you think?

This morning i tried weatbix again, thought the cool weather might make her want something warm (i heat it up in the microwave), but she started gagging the moment i put it in her mouth drama queen i know!
Do any of you put sugar or honey in your weatbix? I've thought about it but haven't tried it... not really keen on the idea. Porrage also has the same gagging effect.... And toast just sits on the plate, she maybe eats one quarter (on a good day) but thats it!

This morning i ended up giving her a warm milo (please don't judge, lol) and some sultanas! hahaha Great brekky there!

Any ideas would be great! If not shes just going to continue with yoghurt, which i suppose isn't that bad... just i guess i'd personally rather something warm on a cold morning.

    THanks!

Not sure I was going to suggest porridge til I read further down.
What about rice bubbles or something like that?

I dont think its too cold with yoghurt you just want to watch the overall sugar level - fruit is packed with sugars that people dont always think about so just vary the types of fruits.

Milo is low GI and has lots of vitamins, it not like shes mainlining it

yeh i was going to say eggs, scrammbled, omlete (sp?) hard boiled? or what about something like pancakes? if you add fruit to the cereal would she like it better, or maybe don't add so much milk so there dryer, my brother always had dry ceral and milk in a cuo to drink (weird i know) also have you tried adding the youghurt to cereal?
    hope that helps.

Eggs & baked beans are winners here at the moment. Juliette is a bit the same with the texture of the weetbix, but if I add in a bit of Rafferties apple, pear & cinnamon puree she will tolerate the texture because she loves the taste!

    Thanks ladies,

Yes she likes scram eggs, but i'm similar to you leesa - weekend treat, lol. Maybe i can just make them an every day thing, Its not like they're a difficult thing to whip up.

Jamakin i might try the yoghurt to cereal, it actually reminded me that thats what i did last winter, lol. Baby brain already! I used the rafferty rice cereal and mixed yoghurt through, i'll give it another go!

Sarah i've never even thought of baked beans either! I'll give them a go too!

Rayray i never really thought about the sugar in the fruit either, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks ladies! I really appreciate it, maybe tomorrow she'll have a bit more than sultanas, haha.

    We do loats of toast/crumpets.

The other thing I do is a banana shake.....milk and banana and sometimes i sneak yoghurt into it just to fill her up (not that she needs filling my eatng machine).

Sometimes I just cut up a whole heap of stuff, fruit, crackers, olives, ham cheese...especially when shes off bread.

    Good luck

My DD (21 months) loves crumpets - with either vegemite or honey on, mmmm.

You could try cutting up the toast into shapes with a biscuit cutter - she might like to eat it if it's a star shape LOL.

DD also occasionally has other dried cereals in a small cup without milk, just to munch on (eg fruitybix, nutragrains, milo cereal). OK not the healthiest so she doesn't have it often but it provides a bit of variety & she usually has some fruit and milk/yoghurt as well.

i put honey on my Dd's weetbix, she likes it most days

she loves youghurt at the moment
and went through a crumpet stage with honey lol

she also likes to have a choice for breaky so its half a banna, half a weetbix and half a piece of toast 80% gets eaten.
i dont mind as i have teh other half of teh toast and bannana with my breaky

DD is having 2-3 youghurts a day as she gets them out and opens them herself lol sneaky little thing

milo isnt bad as a treat better than chocolate milk lol

maybe try a smoothy or something like that as you can break a weetbix up in it or museli in it and blend it up

and maybe try eggs one morning youghurt the next for variety i find dd wont have the same thing 2 mornings on A row
