nup, i didn't, plenty of people do though. dd was given a few books by people when they visited, but she was more interested in the baby and interacting with the visitors.
I've been thinking about when DS is born and how there is going to be alot of focus on him with people coming to meet him etc and was wondering how I can make sure DD feels special too.
Did anyone buy a gift for their older child from the baby for when they visited the hospital? Does this seem silly?
Was also thinking of getting a couple of small things for her that people could give her when they come to meet baby, so that not all the fuss is about him.
Did anyone do this, if so what did you do/buy? DD will be just 2.
TIA![]()

I didn't get anything for DS but most of my family and friends who came to visit the baby brought something for him.
I'm planning on getting DD a baby doll a month or so before my EDD. That way she will have a baby to care for tooThat's the plan anyway.
I did. DS1 got a jack in the box from DS2 when he first came to visit, a few friends and family bought him presents as well. I do same for friends kids.
DD got a dance mat game for the wii and a few weeks prior to my EDD we had a girly day (hair washed, cut, dried, curled plus pedicure and nails painted)
I love getting them a beautiful book about a new sibling, how exciting and how it changes. Its a lovely quiet thing you can do together when there is so much focused on the baby.
I didn't do anything for dd1 when bub came. She had just moved into a big girls room so for her dragging people to see it was enough. A few people bought things for her (her fave was a dr my little pony which was good with bub in hospital) or gifts for both - books etc.
I wasn't sure how long we would be in hospital for so the girls each got a crayolla set with special markers that only worked on the paper in the set. They did some colouring in when they visited and no need to worry about texta everywhere. Thir goodie bags also had a juice and a snack. The girls had also each picked a small gift to give to the baby
Most visitors got something for bubs and something for my big girls
DD1 got a present 'from the baby' which was a rag doll with her own nappy and dress, plus some activity type things that kept her busy while she was visiting us in hospital. Win win![]()
Miss H got a satin sash with *Best Big Sister* ... which she still wears proudly! hehe
She also received a big plush unicorn from her baby sister![]()
I really want to get DD one of those MamAmor dolls *when* we do get pregnant, it will help her understand a bit more I think
DS was almost three, and we gave him a camera. DH is a photographer so I knew it was something he would really like, he was always wanting to be like daddy and take pictures. He took so many pictures of his new baby sister in the hospital, and still uses it every day, mostly to take photos of DD.
I also took DS to the build a bear place and he made a bear to take DD when he met her, and one for him, just because![]()
