We are looking to get a Bugaboo Cameleon for our babe. I have heard LOADS of great reviews, however these are all from people with young babies!
My mum has heard some complaints from women at the school gate (my sis is in primary school).
I am REALLY keen to hear reviews for people who have Cameleons for babies aged 1 - 3. My (mum's!) specific concerns are:
- Does the 'bum' part of the harness give them a 'wedgie' all day? It seems to come from underneath the child, instead of in front?
- In the upright position, the seat part seems to slope down, and takes huge pressure (more than a child's weight) to get it to sit flat. Does this tip the child forward? is it uncomfortable?
- The seat seems quite narrow - is it big enough for a toddler to be comfy?
Any other thoughts on the Cameleon for babies over 1 would be GREAT!
My DS is 21 months and we have a Cameleon. We also do a lot of driving to and from Perth (we live a couple of hours away) and have recently bought a Maclaren for trips like this as the Bug was taking up too much room in the boot. But I still use it for going to the shops in town and for daily walk. As he's getting older, it's easier just to hold his hand and walk short distances rather than get the pram out of the boot etc. But here are my answers:
- Does the 'bum' part of the harness give them a 'wedgie' all day? It seems to come from underneath the child, instead of in front? No wedgie here, if anything it keeps them more secure.
- In the upright position, the seat part seems to slope down, and takes huge pressure (more than a child's weight) to get it to sit flat. Does this tip the child forward? is it uncomfortable? There are 3 positions on the seat attachment, laying flat, reclined and upright. We use the reclined position for ages, at least til he was 15 months at least, before using the upright position. DS liked to be upright so he could be a nosey parker at the shopping centre.
- The seat seems quite narrow - is it big enough for a toddler to be comfy? The seat is fine, and I love the height. When we go to cafes and there is no high chair, I just wheel DS right up to the table and he is at perfect height.
Any other thoughts on the Cameleon for babies over 1 would be GREAT! Please, please make sure you buy a liner (there are some very funky ones out there, Pramskins, Indi Bebe) for your toddler seat attachment. A couple of my friends just put their little ones on the canvas seat and I think it looks so uncomfortable. Plus, it's a great way of preserving your pram as Bug's have excellent resale value.
HTH!
PS - what colour topping are you getting? That's the best part! I have a red topping and charcoal base, great for visibility when we are out walking. Oh, and all parts are machine washable.
I've got one, but my bub is only 6 months old, but I do love it. My sister also has one which she has used for both her kids. Her oldest is now 6, but was still going it occassionally at 4, and her 3 year old still rides in it on a daily basis. HTH
For all of the same reasons given above by Sequioa, we don't have any problems and DD will go to sleep in it as well, every time we walk past it and she points to it want to get in I also haven't gone out and bought a spare smaller stroller as we jsut don't need to
OMG I looked up Indi Beb's Blog I want to go shopping for a new cover!!! They are just divine!!! Has anyone here bought one?
