Hi girls, the community health service called yesterday - I've got an appointment with the paediatric dietician tomorrow at 3pm! Sooner than I expected which is great.

Well we have had a session with the dietician - we have been giving her too much dairy and too much fruit. Like twice the amount of milk recommended (4-500ml is appropriate and she would have close to 1L some days :o ). She has given us a new meal plan (sort of thing) and we're going back in one month to see if things have improved.
If not, then we will look at allergies and intolerances. Fingers crossed we get this sorted without needing to do any further tests...
Good luck! :)
Charlotte has the same thing when she eats too much cow's milk.
She loves yoghurt, so she eats that, and ice cream every now and then, but as she guzzles milk, we switched to Rice Milk.
I can ALWAYS tell when she has been drinking too much milk at daycare, as she complains of sore tummy and her poo is gross. Every time.
This is an interesting thread, i havent read all the post but im going to casue DD who is 28 months NEVER has solid poo any more....they are like a mr whippy soft serve...thank goodness she does them all in the toilet, i dont think i could cope with cleaning them out of a nappy!!!! I guess its not that normal but she never complain about a poorly tummy or anything and she is healthy other than the yuck poo!
Im curious, how much fruit have they told you she should be having?? DD has fruit coming out of her ears! wonder if i should try cutting that down a bit. hope the new diet fixes things for you!!
Only one serve of fruit a day, which is equivalent to one piece of fresh fruit, half a cup of juice or one and a half tablespoons of sultana/dried fruit.
I know DD could easily eat a whole pear at morning tea plus a whole packet of sultana, which is more than 1.5tbs, plus sometimes some other fruit!! Way too much!
She has advised us to only give her fresh fruit - we don't do juice, but we do do sultanas so no more sultanas. Apparently dried fruit is even worse as it has a higher fructose level and draws water into the bowel to digest, which can give them "toddler diahorrea"! So no more sultanas for DD!
Beckoes - I am jealous that yours are going in the toilet!!!!!!!
WOW....DD has had half a cup of fresh pineapple and two slices of rock mellon and banana on toast already today!!! she LOVES fruit! and she will be asking for more after lunch and dinner too! i make icey poles with mango and other fruit and she normally has one of those a day aswell. SO that explains the poos! she eats alot of other stuff to, i guess il try and cut down a bit but i dont think she will like it much....its a lucky problem to have i guess though, having a child thats eats TOO MUCH fruit!
As for the toilet stuff, its only been the last few weeks and it all just fell into place. there were a fair few accidents before she got it though...both kinds :)
This is an interesting thread. DD eats much more fruit than that too. Her poos aren't solid either but @ 14 months and still having a few bf a day I wasn't sure that they should be... It's certainly got me thinking.
Charlotte eats fruit like it is going out of fashion, no issues with poos here from fruit, including 6 or so prunes a day lol
Think everyone is just different really.
DD probably had 5 portions of fruit today. adult portions too. if she wants a snack of pudding she asks for fruit and she has about three breackfasts and two of them are fruit. i dont think she would be happy with anything else, although i did talk her into a handfull of cashews instead of one of the normal fruit snacks today.
If its not bothering her is there any real harm in it?? i guess as she does them in the toilet i dont have to deal with them, if she was in nappies i would probably be more worried as i would see it more IYKWIM!!! and she never tells me she has a sore tummy or anything.
LIMESLICE: every time i see you ticker it disturbs me a little....the thought of giving birth to a squash or a watermellon (which i think is the last pic on your ticker) just makes me shudder! :) :)
PMSL Bec I know!!
I am thinking of it as graduated training...plus the pic of the water melon looks so small, hoping it will convince me that a watermelon doesn't have to be huge, intimidating and as big as a small car!!
Something like 90% of P's diet is fruit and her poo is fine too.
A bit stinkier, but there's no more or less of it.
I didn't even get to eat any of the kilo+ of seedless red grapes we bought...P finished them off in a couple of days. Freakazoid :-P
