Hi, my 9.5mth little girl doesn't like travelling in the care for more than 20mins, sometimes she will play peacefullly for longer or shorter. I have tried giving her different toys to play with, with & without sounds/lights, & giving her cruskits to eat. Have also made sure she has had a good sleep &/or has been well fed before we travel. Night time is even worse. Only sometimes does she fall alseep peacefully. She still travels in reverse as she is not yet at the weight to go in forward positon. This all started happening when she was more alert of surroundings. Perhaps she gets car sick? Anyone has had similar problems?
You might have already tried this, but my sister has this great seal toy that lights up and makes noises when the baby kicks it. It's a great distraction. There is also another one in the range that comes with a little steering wheel that makes lights move on a picture panel.
Some babies do travel better when they get turned around to face the front. I'm not advocating you do this though! I kept DD facing backwards longer than most of our friends cause I wasn't willing to jeopardise her safety. Unfortunately you might just have to grin and bear it ,which is a lot easier said than done I know.
Amanda,
My DD hated car travel for some time, we had problems going over 30 minutes. She hated it when it was dark when it was light, pretty much anything. We now feed her as we travel which when we live 90 minutes from family it can be stressful. The Wiggles CD's are working and small bits of food passed constantly. At 2 she is starting to get better, she may find it more interesting when she is turned, having a little more interaction. Good luck It is horrible having a child that hates the car.
