    Chocolate+Babies

I'm just curious as to what age babies can eat chocolate? What with Easter coming up alot of mothers in my MG are buying Kinder Surprise Eggs because supposedly these ones are specially for babies. Thoughts?

i dunno what the 'right' age is, but we're not getting anything for DS this year - well, nothing chocolate anyways. i personally think he's way too young - he'll be 9 months at easter. i figure he has years to enjoy chocolate & easter so no need to eat it now when he won't even remember!

I personally feel the same way - wouldn't even had thought about chocolate until I heard them talking about these eggs.

The first time we gave DD1 any type of chocolate was Easter last year. She was 2.5 yrs old then. I personally wouldn't be giving a child under the age of one any chocolate.

DD first had chocolate at 11.5mths for a birthday cake. I am thinking of getting DD a hollow small egg (you know the ones the size of a normal egg in a carton. DP and I will eat the rest!

As for the kinder egg not sure. To me, chocolate is chocolate. I thought they were just targeted to kids because they have the surprise

ETA- Knowing my DD she wont eat it anyway. For her birthday I put out on her tray some choc cake and some berries and grapes and she just ate the fruit! LOL!

It's a funny thing...I was all worried first time round so DS1 didn't get anything lollie/chocolate like for nearly two years.
DS2 came along and everthing changed as he wanted what DS1 wanted. So he probably started around 11mths.
I am glad I held of for as long as I did first time round, although it hasn't made any difference to either them.

I was considered "cruel" for not giving DS chocolate at his first easter: he is a Feb bub! I am Feb too and was given chocolate for my first easter.

My son is 3 and has never had an easter egg. In my defense, I can't find dairy free chocolate eggs! He'll just have chicken eggs, which he adores, instead.

Kinder eggs taste HORRID. Maybe that's why it's for little ones: so they don't bug you for more of it all the time LMAO.
