    Question From cot to bed

Just wondering when everyone moved their LO's from the cot to the bed? Or converted the cot at all?

We are expecting a little brother or sister for DD when she will be 16 months and I'm wondering whether we need to buy another cot or whether we should be transitioning DD into a bed prior to then.

My heart and head say it's too early but she is my first baby so I really don't know and it's months away so it's so hard to say!

Any help would be appreciated - thank you

if she is happy sleeping in the cot, i would get another one for your new bubba. She will still be pretty little and a cot is better at keeping bub safe and in one place.

We converted my DS's cot to a bed when he was 18 months because he was climbing out but he wasn't ready. It threw our wonderful nighttime routine into chaos! So after giving it a couple of weeks we went back to the cot with a mattress on the floor incase he fell when climbing. We waited another 6 months then moved him straight into a big bed and it was easy!! I guess it depends on the child...

There is about 17 months between my two. We had the new baby in a bassinette for 3 months in our room
and found Dd1 was ready for a bed by the time dd2 needed the cot. I wasn't sure either but playing it by ear worked well for us and I didn't end up buying a second cot.

Dd2 however is only just ready now for a bed at almost 2, so I think it really depends on the child.
