was just wondering how old your children were when you moved them from the cot to the bed and did you go to a toddler bed or straight to a big bed. DS1 got a bed for his 1st birthday and was a single bed but he was walking by then DS2 was about 15mnths and not walking he also dot a single bed but he seemed ready for it but cooper just doesnt seem like he is even nearly ready seems to be all over the cot ect, a friend told me I should just put him into a toddler bed and a matress on the floor reason being that his cot has become quite loose and has already been repaired I dont want to buy another as we arnt having any more kids, but I think it is too dangerous to leave him in it iykwim?
I put DD into a bed straight from a cot at 14 months old only because we moved in with friends and she had to share a room adn there wasnt enuff room for her cot n draws....
She never fell out of bed and to this day she still hasnt fallen out of bed and she is nearly 8yr old
If your worried bout him falling out buy a bed rail to stop him from falling
but how do you know when they are "ready" for a bed? DD is 13 months old and I am due for #2 in November, so am thinking about when to put her in a bed. She has been walking for almost 2 months now and she doesnt try to climb out of the cot.
I would also put your bub into a bed if its not safe and youre not going to buy another cot
My eldest DS moved into a toddler bed at 23 months, I bought it cheap from eBay though, I wouldn't pay a fortune for a bed you won't use for long. I liked knowing that he didn't have far to fall (and he did fall out a couple of times). He moved into a big single bed when he moved rooms to make room for the new baby (he was around 2 3/4).
Definitely stop using your cot if you don't think it is safe.
We moved our eldest to her big girl bed at about 14 months and she was no where near ready. It all backfired and she ended up in our bed till she was nearly 2.
Our youngest girl is now in her big girl bed and shes 19 mths old.
