DD has a very blocked nose

    Hi There,

Anyone have any remedies for a newborn (3weeks) with a very blocked nose?

I know newborns are prone to blocked noses but DD is getting worse. She now makes snorting noises when trying to sleep and wakes herself up.

When she is on the breast, she has alot of difficulties breathing.

Any ideas would be highly appreciated!

    Thank you!

Go to the chemist and get some Fess for Little Noses I think its called. It comes with a snot sucker thing LOL that you can use to help clear their nose.

Yup another user of Fess little noses here. They won't like it - but its just saline solution and it works to clear the nose - we never used the sucker thing, just the thought of sucking out boogers grossed us out too much!!! But the drops work fine.

Our DD was very stuffed up when she was born and the Peadiatrician who visited us in hospital said to use some sterile saline and squirt it up her nose. It made her sneeze and cough and it did clear eventually.

I love the Fess for Little Noses. One little warning though, if you're sucking the snot out within half an hour of a feed and you're doing lots of snot, you may get projectile vomit.

I went to get fess for kids just then and used it on DD.

I also got some SudoClear vapour plug. The pharmacist said its okay for a 3 week old BUT i checked the pack and it said to be used for babies 3 MONTHS and over!

Anyone used this for a 3 week old?

Another way to clear bubs' nose is to either bath in a very warm bath or steam up the bathroom by someone having a very hot shower and put bubs on some warm towels on a bouncer/blankets on the floor.
