Oh, poor thing! When Noah broke his collarbone 7ish weeks ago he only had to leave it in the sling for 2weeks and didn't even have to go back to have it rechecked, we took him to our gp when he did it and they have an xray attached to them so made the whole thing quick. Have you got one of those figure out padded kind of slings as opposed to the material kind? If you have the old material kind I would reccommend going to the dr for the other kind, they are so much better.

Hopefully he adhusts well. Noah is a very very active, roughian of a 2.5yr old and he didn't try to pull it out of the sling, when he had a bath he would often hold his arm in the same position, it was where it didn't hurt, when he tried to move it when the sling wasn't on it would hurt him.

I would double check with your gp for his situation but yea was only 2weeks for us and would be a shame for him to wear it 6-8 if not neccessary.

Also one other thing is that its normal for them to get a lump on the bone where the fracture is. The dr explained to us it was kinda like the bone wrapping tape around the fracture to strengthen it. She warned us it would mostlikely happen.

Hope he goes ok with the sling and a big to you, it is horrible having your baby hurt

Ray - glad you know now, hope it heals quickly.

DD broke hers at 18 months, she would only wear her sling for about the first week, then she just knew to hold it in the right position. She did develop quite a lump at the spot where it healed, but now, 9 months later, I have to look at the photos to know which side it was on as it has completely gone.
