Do I really need to get a new cradle mattress?

    Hello,

We are expecting our second baby in about 12 weeks so just trying to work out what we still need to buy.
With DD we had her in a cradle for about 4 - 5 months tops then she went into her cot and are just wondering if we need to buy a new mattress for the cradle. It has no stains and is beautiful condition, although it has been stored under our bed with no plastic covering for the last year.
What do you think or what did you do?

I am reusing the mattresses that we bought new for DD..

I personally wouldn't use 2nd hand (from another family), but reusing ours I don't see as a problem.

I would just use the one you have.

I can't see a problem with using it again if it's in good condition.

Me too, I'd go with the old one. I'd give it some air and some sun before you use it. We have issues with dust here, so I'd probably go over it with the vacuum too even if I couldn't see any dust on it.

A bit of sunshine and airing will work wonders to freshen it up.

You could try to google something like "sun dust mites mattress" to get some idea of how well it will work and for some other little hints!
