Oh, I'm sorry. That sounds really rough on you. Neither of my kids took a dummy (which SUCKED in the early days!) so I don't have personal experience for you. But some of my mates at mothers group did talk about it. Some of them put extra dummies in the cot for bubs to find themselves. Others weaned off the dummy which took a few tough nights with some crying and settling in other ways (patting etc) but they were relieved once the dummy had gone.
As I said, I'm no expert but wanted to say I hope you find a solution that suits you - 8 times a night reminds me of my worst couple of months with Natty (when she was 6-7 mo) and I was a zombie.
