When DD was still in SCN in Bendigo she scratched DPs eye and he ended up on strong codeine pills, lying in a dark room with sunnies on, with a 2mm ulcer on his eye.
When DD got up this morning she was SCREAMING for 2 hours and her eye was so teary and red and she wouldn't open either of her eyes. I tried to gently pull the red one open to have a look and she did a scream that would make your ears bleed.
Gave her a bath thinking that may relax her a bit to open her eyes. and she did. But every time she opened it she did another scream.
So I ended up calling the dr and I got to go in to see him straight away (heaps of people waiting, so I felt really lucky!) and he had a look at DDs eyes and she has scratched the inside of the bottom lid. It may go infected so I need to take her to the dr tomorrow arvo if I'm worried.
I was so freaked out, knowing how much pain DP was in for days after she scratched his eye and I didn't want something happening to her.
Anything like happened to you?
She's calmed down now, as I've given her some panadol.
Nothing immediately springs to mind, but I've heard 'that' scream, . Hope that DD is quickly on the mend, and not too painful for her. Hope DP is better now too. More ...
I can't remember how old DD was (maybe round 2 months?) when one morning she started screaming so loudly and when we looked she had scratched the white of her right eye, it had a bloody scratch in it near the iris. I freaked out and when we saw the Doc he said it was more common that you'd think, because bubs just grab blindly and the corner of a sharp nail is all it takes..... and her nails weren't even sharp at the time from what I could tell.
She was on eye drops for about a week to ensure it didn't get infected, but after the initial scratch it didn't seem to bother her too much at all and it cleared up fairly quickly. Sounds like your DD's a bit more than ours was, but wanted you to know you're definitely not alone
