Extra sleepy normal in this hot weather?

My DD seems much more sleepy today than normal, it is very hot here in MEL, have the single aircon unit on but overnight was still pretty warm (27) in her room so not sure she slept that well. Is currently about 27 in the lounge room, and she has fallen asleep on the floor, which she hasn't done for a long time. She is bf with a couple of solid meals a day, she seems to be feeding fine and has done a couple of poos plus wet nappies today so doesn't seem dehydrated (I will offer her water with lunch) - is it just normal to sleep more in this hot weather? I suppose I might take a nap more in the heat (only in Oz a couple of years from UK so I am not real used to the heat myself).

not sure if it's normal but my DS is the same - he had a horrible sleep last night but has been asleep for just over 2.5 hours now. i snuck a 'dreamfeed' in when he started to wake at 45 mins to try & extend his nap but this is a record. normally he's a 45 min catnapper, maybe 1.5 hours with some help.

as long as she's getting lots of feeds, then it sounds like she's fine - just catching up on some rest!

I don't know for sure, but my DS slept a lot more than usual yesterday, then had a really good night for sleeping too (which is rare).

(We're in Tassie, so not quite as hot - but still pretty warm for us!)

DD is the same...yesterday she had two big sleeps, each of them about 2 to 2 1/2 hours...normally she has three sleeps, each 45 mins to an hour. Last night was a bit horrid though, went to bed at 7, woke up at 10 and wouldnt go back to sleep until after 11 when I got fed up and put her in bed with me. She did sleep until 8am though.
she's back in bed now and has been since about 10am so maybe today will be the same... it has been very hot outside but inside the house it is comfortable so I didn't think the heat would affect her too much?

YES!! My DS slept for 2.5 hours in morning and 3.5 hours in the afternoon yesterday plus a good 12 hours last night. I reckon it is the heat too....

I guess it makes sense. Heat makes adults sluggish, so imagine what it must do to our LOs!?
