    Poo questions

My 6 month old DD has been on solids for 2 weeks now. She has one meal a day in the evening- one plain pureed veg or fruit ie carrot, avocado, banana etc. Now I know that their poos change with the change in food but my DD has only done tiny little poos since she started solids. As in, sultana/pebble size- and usually only one 'bit' a day or even every second/third day. Don't want to go into too much detail but she hasn't done one that needs a clean up as such and there is nothing on her nappy except for the one pebble. Is this normal? She doesn't seem to be in any pain etc but am worried she is constipated. Grateful for any feedback!

Hmmm...not sure You could get her checked at the GP, they'd know by feeling her tummy if she is constipated or not.

My DD only ever did little 'sheep droppings' I used to call them! Although there was more than one 'bit' per day. On the upside they are so easy to clean up!

i'm not sure either, my DD still does explosions even after solids.

What I was going to say though, some of the bubs in my baby buddies thread have had similar issues, and have been given some chopped up dried prunes which help. I also find pears usually cause an explosion too! Have you had tried pears?

Definitely go with the pears. Also a little bit of diluted prune juice should do the trick xo

Sounds like she is constipated to me. Do you give her water? A little boiled water usually does the trick for my son.
Like some one else said, Pears are good to get things moving.

Thanks all. I tried pear and prune juice for 2 days to no avail. Took her to the dr this afternoon and it was constipation so got some Actilax from chemist. Dr said it is very good and very safe so we are looking forward to the elimination!! Dr also said it gets to a stage where pear/prune/apple juice just won't help and stronger stuff is needed.

I think it's a fairly normal thing with the big change in diet. Oskar was a bit the same. With him a weetbix for brekky every morning has been a good thing. Banana is good for them, but can cause some constipation.

My DD went through this except poor thing ended up pretty constipated...
I was told- apples soak up water so not recommended to have too many apples.
Iron can cause constipation as well.
    Pears are good and water.
I tried prune juice and i boiled prunes to put into cereal but no success... what worked for my dd was a weak cammomile tea. No one recommends this but i couldnt find any real reason why its not recommended and mum brought me and my brother up on this so i gave it a go and it worked. She has it about once a week now. I make it with a tea bag for a litre of water and dont leave the tea bag in too long. My pead didnt say anything when i told him i have been giving it to her so im not sure.. maybe if someone knows something about cammomile that i dont before u try it.. Good luck.
