yep Mia does. Welll sorta. I still wake her at 10pm for a bottle but she hardly wakes. She goes down at 6:30, asleep usually by 7:30 and wakes about 7-730 am.
We have recently been weaning DS off his night feed in the (mistaken) belief and hope that it would lead to a lovely unbroken sleep. Hm, no. Last night I was up 5 times to pat, lay back down, provide dummy etc. I think it was easier to feed!
So it got me thinking....does anyone's LO really, actually, more often than not sleep for 11-12 hour straight? Maybe not every single night (due to teething, illness, random bad night), but most nights? Is there children out there (who are under, say, 5) who do this? From the tales of my mothers group, it SOUNDS like there are, but I get a bit wary of mummy-bragging!
Just curious!
EDIT: STTN = sleeping through the night (I know we translated elsewhere, but I was so confused at first!). - nelle

Yes, it IS a myth. LOL. And I'd rather not anything to the contrary!!!
Well, of course, I'm sure there are some (I am pretty sure most of the others are mummy bragginglol!) but those parents are very very lucky and I don't think its the norm for at least under 2 (this is how I rationalise it to myself at 10pm, 1am, 2am, 4am etc... hahaha).!!!!

Geez Hollye, what's your secret?!
Miss M still needs a feed at 10pm, and then usually takes another few hours to go down. If we don't feed her at 10, she'll wake up at midnight like last night, and then its 2am before she's asleep again.
Aricyn dropped the 10pm feed around 7ish months, but still wakes up during the night. It got a lot easier when we moved him to a toddler bed, cos now he just crawls into bed with us at around midnight. And then he'll sleep the rest of the night.
Lily slept through the night(ie 12 hours) from 4 days old. Charlie slept through (10 hours) from 6 weeks and Orson has slept through (10 hours) since birth. So yes they are around and i have been told i am very lucky and i now see why.
umm I knwo jack is a little older but yeah he sleeps 11.5 - 12 hrs a night 9pm till 9am most days from 10 weeks old he was sleeping 9am till 6am then back from 7am till 9am mind you he only ever catnapped during the day 40mins tops and has now dropped his day sleep *yawn*
My 20 mo does. He goes to bed at 7pm and wakes at 7am (at the earliest) with no wake ups (except if he's sick or has a dirty nappy). BUT he has only been doing this since 10 months, before that, totally different story! And days are different, most days he has a good sleep but some days he doesn't.
DD was a much better sleeper than DS, she started doing 12-13 hours every night (again, apart from the rare night where she was sick etc) at about 9 months.
Antheia - wow you ARE lucky!! I can't even imagine any of my babies sleeping that long at that age.
My kids all slept 12 hrs very early on. DS was sleeping 12 hrs from a few days old, DD's 1 and 2 slept 12 hrs from about 1 week old. So yes it does happen. I am so sorry to hear it's not happening for you.![]()
Sorry but my DD1 has slept through from 9 months when we dropped her final dream feed. She only ever wakes up if she is sick or wets through. She will sleep from 7.30pm - 7am most nights.
DD2 is 4.5 months and I can't see her sleeping through any time soon but she may get better. She only usually wakes once during the night though.
I can't imagine what its like to sleep that long any more!!! LOLAntheia - wow you ARE lucky!! I can't even imagine any of my babies sleeping that long at that age.
You are very VERY VERY lucky Antheia!!!
I think a good way to look as it is do you sleep through the night without any wake ups, like toilet breaks, drink of water or just general stirring? I know I wake up a lot!!! So I don't expect too much from Em. She has good nights and BAD nights!!! We are still giving her a dream feed at 10 but she did sleep all night last night if she woke I didn't hear her![]()
Someone had better share this with DD1!!! She's 5, and has slept through around 15 times her entire life. And sleeping through, I mean 8.30pm - 6ish am.....
DD2 sleeps through some nights, but not all. She may wake up 2 nights a week and she's 2 1/2.
OMG.
No stop, Antheia et al, I just don't want to hear any more![]()
My first three were great sleepers - sleeping 12hrs by 6-8wks old. And then we had number 4. The Reverse Karma God is kicking our butts big time as I think we've probably only had about 6mths worth of sleeping through on and off over the past 22mths. it is causing a lot of issues between DH and I and I don't think he realises just how great we had it with the older 3 and can't accept that some kids just DON'T sleep through or go to bed easily.
LOL, yeah it's a myth. Hell, I don't sleep through yet, it's just that when I wake up I don't go and harass the other members of my household to help me get back to sleep (except the cat - she's fair game).
There are some babies who sleep through the night but there's no guarantee that it will continue. No baby is 'easy' all the time in every ways. Some sleep well but they're finicky sleepers, some are easy when they're younger and then turn into monsters when they're teenagers, some 'difficult' toddlers breeze through the teenage years.
If your baby won't sleep through it's not because you're doing something wrong and if your baby does sleep through it's not because you did something right - it's jsut the luck of the draw![]()
DD1 slept through no problem from 8 months old. The last 2 - NO FRICKEN CHANCE![]()
